The Trump Presidency

I'll take this guy, his message, and his work every day over grandstanding and flag-wrapping.

I think nsacpi is generally right here, but I'd add the caveat that certain externalities are under-weighed in deregulation decisions. Economic growth is essential, but it's not the only consideration. Blindly cheering deregulation might well mean cheering on real societal damage (financial crisis, ecological ruin), the cost of which is ALWAYS socialized.

Btw when I mention costs and benefits, I certainly would want the kind of externalities you mention included in the calculations.

Some earn badges of honor by putting their lives on the line for others.

yes and it is right that we honor that...and I think Mr. Jenkins and his teammates have also made positive contributions to their communities that merit recognition

Trump should be uninvited to the WH. He has sullied the office like no other while using its power to put money in his pocket. If Washington returned to the rough and tumble days that Trump called for during the campaign, he would be tarred and feathered and run out of town, if not much worse.

A carrot for what? Iran was gifted a great deal and then they complained afterwards they wanted more. Obama as he always did on the international stage showed his weakness and catered to the whims of the IRanian theocracy by circumventing congress, arguably lying outright to them, to give the Iranians even more benefit to a crap deal.

How is a carrot and not an outright embarrassment to America?

Dont think it out on a limb to say any carrot afforded Iran in your eyes is unacceptable

The carrot was the deal. You know the one that sent pallotloads of cash to a regime that supports terrorist groups in the middle east.

And of course no compromise with that regime is tolerable in my eyes.

Sen. Jeff Merkley describes what he saw at an immigrant detention facility to CNN:

"What I described was what you have is cyclone fencing and fence posts that look like cages,

and they do look like cages. Then, I mean it's—They look like the way

you would construct a dog kennel."

I would pay good money to hear an uncensored conversation of Trudeau had when he hung up the phone after the dumb**** invoked a war of 1812 reference when talking about tariffs with him

Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a "national security" issue. In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, "Didn't you guys burn down the White House?" referring to the War of 1812.

The problem with Trump's comments to Trudeau is that British troops burned down the White House during the War of 1812. Historians note the British attack on Washington was in retaliation for the American attack on York, Ontario, in territory that eventually became Canada, which was then a British colony.

cause i'm sure it was better than the official quote he released when asked about it:

"The idea that we are somehow a national security threat to the United States is, quite frankly, insulting and unacceptable," Trudeau told NBC's Meet the Press.

I did a quick search of the Obama thread and never found any mention of this.

Weird that it's an issue now

With considerable reluctance, I would like to point out that Canada was involved in the War of 1812 as a British colony.

we tried to invade Canadia but they whipped our ass like whitewakkers vs the night's watch. So we provoked a 2ar with Mexico and took their land instead. Problem is it was full of mexicans. If only we had a law designed to make them criminals so we can deport them... hmmmmm
