The Trump Presidency

It's got to be pretty strenuous to repeatedly try to sell chicken**** as chicken salad with the full knowledge that whatever you do is likely to be undone within a matter of days.

Plus the guy is 70 and a bit past his sell date, especially considering the wear and tear on body and mind from previous lifestyle choices. I'm serious in hoping he is alright. I'm not a medical doctor, but there was something tremulous is his voice and demeanor.

it's so weird how he has issues with democratically elected gov'ts

and loves and praises dictators

So much for corporate tax breaks trickling down to workers. Who could have possibly seen this coming?

Feel free to engage in the economics thread... Some numbers showing record job openings and record low layoffs.

Also companies like Walmart that you hate offering to pay for college for all of their employees.

Having said all that, if corporations keep every penny to themselves, that is their right

All those numbers were already trending in that direction before the corporate hand outs. Employers always offer more benefits as full employment is reached. None of this is the result of handing elites more money.

Further, the main argument for giving these corporations free money was to benefit the working class, so your “it’s their right to keep the money” argument rings especially hollow. Do I need to go find a dozen quotes from conservatives promising exactly that?

I realize it’s impossible for some to call a spade a spade, so that response wasn’t surprising lol.

I think you proved during our other conversation months ago that you don't have as.much grasp on this subject as you think.

1. We are trending towards 3% gdp this year, a number not seen in over a decade

2. Wages have risen

3. Corporate layoffs are at all time lows

4. There are more.job openings than there are.potebtial employees to fill them

5. Half of Americans own stocks, and benefit from.stock buybacks

6. Millions of employees got min wage hikes

7. It's their money... They can do what they want with it. I guarantee they do better with it than the US government

2. Wages would be good for its own discussion.

5. Most Americans who own stocks own them as part of 401(K), etc. The majority of stocks and in America and buy 10% of the population. So let's not pretend that this is a broad-based benefit.

But stock buybacks benefit shareholders long term... So why does being in a 401k matter?

They will see the benefit when they withdraw

Trying to get away from an abusive husband?

Well, the Christian Right says that isn’t a good enough reason for asylum anymore

Wow. He just had a heart attack according to Trump

I'm not saying it doesn't help, just that, as a matter of scale, it's far less meaningful to the vast majority.

So whats Trump supposed to do? Bomb them he will get criticized. Do nothing he will get criticized. Make peace, get criticized.

not give concessions to ruthless murderous dictators with nothing in exchange? "peace" has not been made.
he said kim jong un "loves his people." the same people he throws in concentration camps and starves to death.
we're propping up dictators in russia and spitting on democratically elected allies. all because the dictators play into trump's fragile ego.

It's better than war. See Regan and Gorbechev

it's fun to see the evolution of talking to bad people now that President Obama isn't the one doing it

weird

but overall we got nothing out of this summit except fallen soldiers from an old war and we gave them a lot with what seems like not running it by south korea or the pentagon

so, art of the deal
