The Trump Presidency

Feels like a reasonable news story

Definitely should be covered. And I think there is a story to be covered as well concerning how this story is being used to tar a whole group of people. I think most of us are for curbing illegal immigration. I wonder how many think demonizing illegal immigrants is also fair game.

For national news? While the President of the United States might be implicated in felonies and both his personal lawyer and Initial Campaign Manager have been found guilty of multiple felonies? Let me put it in Simpsons terms.

Reminds me when the NRA gets blamed for a shooting...

Except worse, since a member of the NRA doesn't actually shoot anyone

I think it is legitimate to point out that the gun control laws (and the NRA's influence on those laws) have an effect on the very high rates of gun homicides we have in this country.

It is entirely a different matter imo to say that this murder in Iowa reflects some sort of malignant influence from illegal immigrants in general.

this would be more like blaming all white people when a white guy goes off the rails and murders his whole family. which, shockingly, fox news doesn't seem to cover those stories as in-depth as they are this one. can't for the life of me imagine why however

the NRA is a very strong organization who advocates guns for everyone and sees their stock soar every time there's a heavily covered mass shooting.
they've got blood on their hands.

The NRA is also supposedly somewhat connected in with the Russian investigation.

Didnt it come out that big swaths of Russian money was being donated to the NRA? And Butina supposedly had ties to them as well? maybe nsacpi knows better.

i don't think we should jump to conclusions on that one...Butina was up to no good...but my guess is most of the people she cozied up had no idea what she was up to...there are a few though that might turn out to be witting collaborators...we will have to see

Lol ok.

Blame an organization who literally did nothing is fine in your book.

Tough to take take seriously

Totally legitimate... clearly the NRA is mowing down children and must be stopped. And, the below is a reminder that we can always count on the left to speak rationally

did I say that our gun laws contribute to a high gun homicide rate and that it is legitimate to criticize the NRA for its influence over said laws...I think I did...but why say something just twice when you can say it three times...especially when each time I say it it triggers such an interesting response

Let's recap.

nsacpi says the recent tragedy of the young lady being killed by an illegal immigrant shouldn't be a reason for people blame all illegal immigrants

sturg33 agrees, and says it reminds him sadly of a gun shooting shouldn't be a reason for people to blame NRA

nsacpi says, actually - that's legit to do so because it supports my politics, and proceeds to ignore the fact that leftist hysteria always goes to a 10 and calls the NRA a terrorist organization who murders children (despite the fact that the NRA or members of the NRA have any involvement with any shooting ever)

cool

I dont blame the NRA for the actions of killers and dont see how that can be inferred from my posts...but I do think it is legitimate to point out they play a role in creating a legal and cultural framework that contributes to a high gun homicide rate...

as for extremist voices they exist both on the left and the fringe right with their characterization of student activists as crisis actors...I'm not really interested in spending time denouncing either of those groups...it should go without saying that reasonable adults view both with distaste

Trump will survive the campaign contribution stuff. He will be impeached if the dems win the house, but he'll survive because campaign contributions isn't enough to boot him out of office. He has a very plausible defense there. I think he may be f'd in regards to the state of NY though. Underwood hates him and I think wants to take him down. I get a vibe that she's completely comfortable using her power to take down a political enemy. We'll see what happens.
