when republican leadership start not only mocking him but doing something about him
i will stay say republicans
cause as i have shared Amash and Walsh and Conway and other conservatives , they don't hold real power but maybe they are just in my echo chamber lol
and unlike you i don't view twitter accounts like them as the right, i view people in power as the right and they are silent
Any of our lefty friends think this is gross and abusive?
Or... can we not bring ourselves to admit that?
Trump needs to win the China trade war, period. In the long term it would be a enormous boost to at least even the odds there. Short term pain, long term gain.
I dont have any faith in Trump doing anything strategically well.
He's bundled this China stuff and taxing us into a recession in the way

I don't think Trump has the ability to win the China trade war, but I agree with you that it is in the long term interest of the US to do so. The problem is that I don't think the populace is up to it any more than most of the leaders are in that any type of sacrifice is viewed as the coming of the end of the world.
I think pulling out of the TPP was a mistake because that set up a face-to-face with China when we could have worked with other economies within China's sphere-of-influence to bargain from a somewhat stronger position. The big problem is that Chinese leadership doesn't give two hoots about most of their population and they will play the longest of long games. Trump's inability to see past the latest poll numbers really blunts his ability to get much of anything done.
Is it politically advantageous for Trump to announce new tariffs on China on Friday and send the stock market tumbling? Now he gets a whole weekend of bad press and talk of economic mismanagement.
I'm actually in support on his confrontation with China but it seems like he could play good cop and let trade advisors in back rooms be bad cop, creating a much better and stabler situation.
Every single issue brings rage and ludicrous comments from the Oval Office. It's not a good recipe for leadership.

As usual, Runnin comes in with a refreshing and sane take from a left of center point of view.
Maybe it's because I still think of myself as a Blue Dog, but I remember a time when most Democrats supported protectionism for blue collar workers. Trump is a horrible messenger, but I like the message.
My fear is that his domestic opponents will oppose him on this issue reflexively, even though his position here lined up with that of most Democrats of ~2000. And I worry that his successor will decide that ditching this fight is an easy way to contrast with Trump and make short term political hay.
This is an area where Emperor-For-Life Xi has a huge advantage due to our short election cycle.
Trump has always been a horrible messenger but he approach is the only way to break through the propaganda machine. Every single candidate for the Republicans would have got demolished by HRC. They care too much about people that will never vote for them to win a national election.
This fight with China is long overdue and aside from an all out military assault there was no other way to proceed. China is a bad actor and as such you are left with limited options.
I really don't like this take, and I don't like the way Trump behaves. Then I realize that the best Republican candidate since Reagan got thrashed in 2012, and this loudmouth won in 2016, and I have a hard time arguing against it.

If you get out of your echo chamber you would see conservatives mocking him for his stupidity
