The Trump Presidency

When we consider the lecturer's news sources are NYT, WAPO, and WSJ... it becomes a lot more clear on why he's so behind on so many things.

Remember... he was enthusiastic about social media banning the NY Post bc the WSJ wouldn't support the story.

Case was closed in the naive lecturer's mind

pivot, pivot, pivot

i know from certain patterns of behavior around here that this will be adopted by some as a favorite post

go right ahead, i have always regarded imitation to be the most sincere form of flattery

i'm happy to have enriched discourse around here through various phrases

HEV

crickets

gaze averting

whiny little bitch

it is my small contribution to board culture

i don't even expect to be credited by those who appropriate my words!

As sturg pointed out, we agreed with your statement. We just think your reaction is over the top. Honestly it scares me. If an intelligent, politically engaged person can cast aside their positions like you've done then we're absolutely doomed with the influence that media and showbiz have. I wonder how difficult some of the Eastern European languages are to learn.

The left is a lot easier to control

Why would I want to associate with a party of folks who not only continue to vote for him but are wildly enthusiastic about him.

I leave it to you to ponder how it might look from my perspective to be debating with a group of people who by their own admission voted for this malign, narcissistic, unstable nutjob who continues to inspire a movement (cult) that is working overtime to undermine public confidence and acceptance of our democratic processes

Confronted with the choices we had in these past two elections, I'm proud to have been able to abandon (and with enthusiasm and fervor) my political roots. Those roots have turned out to be rotten.

Sure. You pivoted to associating with people who caused billions in damages and several deaths during a months long, national, insurrection.

Your principled stand put you on the side of people who want to ban books that offend them and use government to tell social media companies who to kick off.

You're so concerned about the Capitol building attack on our institutions that you joined the side that wants to pack the court, add states to pack the Senate, and get rid of the Electoral College.

You find Trump's immigration policies so vile that you took the side of people who are sending Cubans back across the Florida Straits instead of granting them asylum because they're of the wrong political persuasion.

Makes sense to me.

sounds good to me

we did get rid of Caligula junior (I hope)

tis a small price to pay

DeSantis or Cotton can clean up the mess

for every action there is a reaction

if the Democrats overreach or screw up, the GOP will get their chance soon enough

Democracy is a beautiful thing

Not to mention he supports policies that empowers the Mexican cartels.

No ****. Funny how all these people that **** on Trump now, kissed his ass and had no problems with him before he announced his candidacy.

Wut?

I can't vouch for anyone. But I've hated Trump since I first visited AC and shot the **** with a construction worker who's company was boned by Trump.

You can tell me he's a puppy eating hermaphrodite from Venus who looks orange because he's covering up his naturally blue skin. It doesn't change what I said:
"the best President of my lifetime on policy and had the best political instincts of any Pub to run for President since Reagan."

That is all laughable as he has the worst economic record since Hoover and his incompetence directly led to millions dead worldwide and hundreds of thousands of Americans. His political instincts were so good he got over 2 million less votes than the most unpopular candidate to actually win a nomination for President by a major party. Never received even 47% of the vote. This was like his 4th time tuning for President. His political instincts are so good he got 81 million people to vote for Iim Crow Joe. You can say Trump added 11 million voters but he also inspired 16 million new voters to vote for the other side. Down ballot Republicans actually did better than him consistently and it cost him the election.

I’m not talking about you, I’m referring to every talk show host, Democrat and black leader that had no problem with Trump Six years ago.

CNN gave him non-stop coverage during the primaries. People have forgotten. But he hated Fox during the 2016 primaries because they were much more favorable to Cruz, Rubio et al. Anyone but Trump. Of course that changed. But CNN gave him an enormous amount of very valuable coverage during the primaries. And it wasn't very critical coverage. They loved covering the clown show. It was great for ratings and nothing else mattered much.

You're smart enough to look at data before and after a pandemic shut down the country and see the truth regarding the economy, so I'll leave that but alone.

His incompetence led to millions dead worldwide and hundreds of thous in the US? Show your work, because that's nonsense.

As for political instincts, a failed real estate developer and third rate reality show host became POTUS, and nearly won a second term despite a once in a century pandemic that was completely beyond his or anyone else's control, and a media that stopped pretending to be impartial.

The funny thing is y'all know he is a malign nutjob, but always are eager to pivot to some other thing.

I'll give y'all credit. The pivot is the #1 tactic of a good debater. And many of y'all have perfected it. Certainly you have had plenty of practice the past four years.

This coming from Patches O’Houlihan

Reading through these past few pages - exhibit #7,453 why we need more than two viable parties.

Ranked Choice would be nice. It won't lead to much change. But if you were allowed to say vote for your first choice first then your lesser of 2 evils second it could lead to some surprises.
