The Wall

I'm in favor of the wall. It will make it significantly easier for border patrol to do their jobs, and the cost will be offset a bit by the fact that it's an infrastructure program. So, the government will get some tax money back from it. And the cost is over stated a bit. Over the course of Trump's presidency (the estimated time it will take to build the wall) it's only going to be about .0009% of the estimated budget over that same time period, which does not take into account tax collected from project.
It has to be done right or it's going to be a glaring symbol of Trump's lying and incompetence. If it is done right it could be a good job producer and be a shining monument to Trump for a long time.

Hard to repeal a wall.

I don't care about trumps legacy. The wall is to protect us and we need it.

Ironically, building a giant, ridiculous structure no one wants for the sake of his own vanity is the one thing he knows how to do.

But it's a huge undertaking with long-lasting consequences. If it is indeed attempted it needs to be thoroughly discussed and planned, with the opinions of experts involved, not slapped together slipshod on the whim of a maniac.

I'm absolutely floored that people are arguing a wall doesn't increase security. You are ignoring thousands of years of history

You're ignoring 100 years of Aviation. and this thing called tunnelling. I forget the stat but they said the majority of Cartel drug running goes through existing tunnels or to meme it

Also you're going back in time with racism because no one is talking about building a wall with our Canadian border. Or securing our coasts. Basically this is like locking your front door but leaving your back door and windows wide open.

The wall is like giving soldiers security blankets instead of body armor during war time.

If you keep your house and car safe and secure why shouldn't your country do the same?

Do you only lock your front door while leaving your back door and windows wide open. Do you lock your car and leave your windows down and car keys sitting on the seat? Get a better analogy.

When the intelligence says that Canada border is a imminent threat then I'm all for building a wall there.

This nonsense of throwing the term racist around has got to stop.

So you don't think there is any illegal activity that will be prevented or deterred from the wall. It will be simply aesthetic?

I'm sure it will help some. But I think all the money it will take to build such a thing could be used more wisely. It's just a gross waste of resources. I just don't think Mexico is some imminent threat that we need to build a wall.

It's not about a country. Mexico as a naton poses zero threat.

Whether or not a wall is the best solution to combat land-based immigration from Central and South America is worthy of thoughtful debate, but brainwashedly pretending there isn't a problem with a sizable number of illegals (many of whom are unaccompanied children thanks in part to the curiously revered DACA) crossing our Southern border is rather delusional.

Then why build a wall and assume another country will pay for it? Again it's a giant waste of money that we don't have. There are many others things that we should be looking to fix before this.
