In fact there were 24 states in the Union before the first teaching of the Rapture.

The Rapture is the teaching that all good christians (certainly not them catholics) will get carried up up to heaven by Jesus then the events of revelation start then he comes back for the rest.

Gonna be a lot of empty seats on that train.

So what's your point?

Nothing really. Just had a thought process about the rapture and why some christains believe in it and others don't and did some research to find out it's one of th enewer faiths of christianity. Even moreso than say Catholics not eating meat on friday in lent.

Not exactly. Bedell can inform you more properly, I'm sure, but in my view the 'rapture' has always existed as a concept ... the contemporary narrative (Left Behind, etc.) might be what you are construing as a 'newer faith'.

Well the rapture teaching is based off something in a certain book. But rapture as we know it (good people called up to heaven, Jesus comes back again after) is new.

The teaching that God's people will disappear while those left behind have time to repent on a second go around is completely unbiblical. The way I read my Bible everyone has the same chances up until the last moment, and then that's it.

The story of Noah is a good example I think. Once the door to the ark was shut, it was final.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thess 4:16 Secret rapture? I just don't see it.

I think this verse also points to the fact that people don't go straight to Heaven or hell after death. FWIW :)

Ummm raptures have been around since the Jurassic period. OP needs to get his facts straight.

He's too busy making them up in the Ferguson thread, which basically just needs to be deleted.

Don't look at me to do it, that is Sav's territory. I will just stick to my statistics and keep people happy and engaged.

The crap spewed in there is incredulous to me but a few posters showed their true colors and that has alarmed me. If I were in a room with them, they would pull the weapons on me because I am black if I attempt anything that resembles taking a cheese and cracker off the table as an horderves , give a playful punch in the arm. I would have three holes in me before I could say anything.
