A semi-automatic rifle and two handguns were found on scene, the The Associated Press reports. Johnston told the AP that the shooter’s motive remains unclear, but that neighbors had reported that the suspect was involved in a domestic violence incident.

One of the victims was a woman whom the suspect was previously accused of stabbing, the AP reports. Authorities also say the gunman attempted to access rooms in the elementary school to harm the children, but the lockdown procedure stopped him and saved lives.

I'm glad you guys are more concerned about this incident than you were when the Muslim immigrant shot up a church in Tennessee. I can't imagine why that is, but I am sure it isn't political.

Or that time a cop shot up a black church and they released him back onto the streets. I guess shooting into churchs is only a big deal if there are people killed.

There was a time, in my lifetime, when a shooting in which five people died would have been news for days. Now it's news for hours, if that. We have become frighteningly inured to mass shootings in the U.S.

I’m pretty sure the Vegas and TX shootings went on for days.

I know because my father was staying with me for both and he had CNN on all day and by like day 4 I couldn’t stand it anymore.

Yeah Vegas and Texas got a ton of coverage but I agree with 57 (whaaat?) that we've become desensitized to shootings. That shouldn't be possible when its multiple fatalities at a school.

I think one of the other reasons why the Vegas shooting was reported on with such breathtaking relentlessness in the media, aside from the record-setting death count, was because it was so thoroughly documented. There was just this abundance of incredibly visceral raw footage.
