Thread: 8/31 Padres @ Braves

Somebody should have told Snitker that this would have been a good time to pitch Simmons instead of Johnson.

Hard to believe the Twins lost a five game lead on the Braves (depending on your perspective) when the Braves weren't even playing decent baseball, and in no time at all. Maybe when they shared the stat on the TV broadcast about Griffey, Jr. being the only HOF who was a #1 overall pick in the draft, the Braves decided to cede the pick to the Twins. Of course, CJ will be another HOF who was #1 overall, as soon as he's eligible.

There may not be a consensus pick, and even if the Braves don't finish last, or even next to last, they still might get "their guy". Hope whoever it is, is a HOF himself.

I just find it hard to believe the Twins are this bad. They went on a tear awhile back, but they have come crashing down to Earth. Terrible pitching staff. Santana is solid, but the rest of their staff is comprised of retreads and AAAA guys.
 
I would keep him on the 40-man this off-season. The stats you cite have the usual small sample issues. But he also did well in AAA in 41 innings.

Well his whole career is a SSS... He's only pitched 37.1 ip as a big leaguer. I wasn't implying he's for real. I was asking what you guys think. He has good stuff and he's really pitching well, so I'm hopeful

I wouldn't be averse to bringing him back. Depends wholly on cost, but he's pitched well since taking over as the closer. 6 ER in 36+ IP since coming off the DL in June. Whether or not it's a good idea, teams seem to like having a vet in the bullpen and he seems comfortable in Atlanta.

As for Ramirez, he's got that big fastball and you can't teach that. I'd keep him on the 40-man.
