the issue is priceIf we truly want to contend, I do think we have to make a move for a legit TOR guy.

No doubt. And there isn't a surplus of ace's out there right now. But we may have to overpay to get what we need. It sucks, but it's why we have copious amounts of pitching depth.

And he’s having arm issues.
Kemp 1.0 fWAR
McCarthy 0.1 fWAR
We should never trade with the dodgers... we get abused every time
overpay=shorter window of contention
that be a hard pass for me
So far the Dodgers are deploying him properly, as previously suggested in these forums.
Are we deploying McCarthy wrong?
If we truly want to contend, I do think we have to make a move for a legit TOR guy. I’ve loved seeing our guys take a step forward early, and Julio regain his form a bit, but we definitely need an ace. I do think we have the pitching depth to make a dominant bullpen.

Issue with an ace is which ones are available?
And they are of course very costly.
If Mets keep sliding, i wonder if Thor or DeGrom were put on the block, they'd cost a fortune though. There's really not any true "aces" available.
Cole Hamels is probably the best of market. Seemingly every other proven 1 or 2 is on a contender.
How much for Hamels+Beltre?
Wentz, Wisler and Camargo?
