We were always sellers. 1/100 chance of making the playoffs, 1/1,000,000 of winning them.

I don't think the strategy has changed much. They will sell if they can get something useful and will only give up something to add players with control.

Some folks have concluded from a single report linking Albies to a trade for a controllable pitcher that was immediately walked back as not serious that the braves are going for it.

While ignoring reports of them shopping players and fielding interest in others.

One fellow has said the braves have no valuable assets and that they might as well keep players and go for .500 and also that they are stupid not to sell what they have for atop 100 prospect and give up the idea of trying to finish season well.

the swings around here, whew.

If there's any hope of the playoffs, we need to win 3 games this week. We also need the brewers to hit the skids and the Rockies to continue to play poorly. The cubs are getting right; we can't beat them

I really hope you're correct on Albies. After trading andrelton though, I don't put anything past the Johns.

Although not impossible, it is as close to impossible as it can be. To make up 8 games on Colorado while also overtaking Chicago is highly improbable. Maybe if it was just Colorado...but highly unlikely then as well.

Once we have shown to have put up a fight (probably around trade deadline), then Coppy and Snit can start to show what we "May have" next season. Expect come August 1 to see Camargo at 3B, Swanson at SS and Albies at 2B. Expect to see Wisler and/or Sims start getting some starts as well.

Just have to be patient if you want the rebuild (it is still the plan) and temper your excitement if you want to buy (was never the plan).

Funny how on one hand we say we should have torn it down to the ground and other the other hand we question every trade of a quality starter that was made...not bad, just curious.

Obviously I don't like how the wood trade turned out, but I didn't hate it at the time. I never liked trading andrelton. We wanna build with pitching... think how great Simmons and inciarte up the middle would be for our staff

Oh...I hated it at the time. Had a sick feeling the moment I heard it.

Sox are calling up Moncado so I guess we must need to call up Albies.

Wait.. Moncada is getting called up? Is this in Hahn's 101 or 102 book on how to rebuild. Has to be in the chapter about starting the service time of your most valuable asset in a non contending year.. genius!!!

Will enscheff keep Hahn's picture as his phone's background?

I agree. Maybe set the rebuild back to 2019 and trade off JT with pen arm and Adams.. and start rookieing the starting staff to death.

I'm not advocating rookieing the starting staff to death. But based on what I've seen of Newcomb so far I'm ready to move on and give Sims a dozen starts or so. Doesn't mean I've given up on Newcomb as a starter. I think he needs some additional work in Gwinnett and there is a non-trivial chance Sims will give us a better chance to win major league games at this point.

Wow...you've given up on Newcomb as a starter after like six games?? Then we should definitely cut Dansby lol.

I still think Newk deserves some starts in the bigs. He will have a ton of work to do in the off season, but I don't think he is going to 'work' on anything in AAA that he can't in the bigs. I am fine with having Sims and Wisler up and auditioning. My fear is game7 and not being able to handle starting so many young pitchers.

Read the third sentence of what you just quoted. And the fourth. I have not given up on Newcomb as a starter. Based on his AAA numbers I was willing to give him a short tryout. If his minor league walk numbers were better I would have been willing to give him a longer tryout.
