an indication folty will return to the rotation after the break

You think? I think the more parsimonious explanation is that the Braves don’t need that fifth starter again before the break, so bullpen flexibility becomes the benefit of scheduling.

Personally, I’d like to see both a few more AAA starts for Foltynewicz and a few more MLB starts for Wilson.

Wright is entering the conversation

Folty is starting in Gwinnett today. I think he will make one more minor league start then return for the Milwaukee series.

He’s been on a tear, but Wilson’s been good in Gwinnett all season. I’d rather let Wright continue to build consistency in AAA while seeing if Wilson can succeed in Atlanta.

Maybe so. But I think Wilson’s shown enough in AAA and his past two MLB starts to warrant patience with Foltynewicz.

Seems clear to me that this is just to get an extra bullpen arm and then bring Wilson back up to start after the break.

Not sure anything about the move is "clear", but do hope that Wilson or Wright (or both) get a couple starts following the break.

At the end of the day, I think Folty and Gausman are the better Pitchers (for now) when they're right. However, there's absolutely no reason to rush Gausman and two starts in Gwinnett simply aren't enough to "fix" Folty's $.10 head - they need to make him understand that they're serious about him getting his emotions in check, because he's just no good to them if he can't. If he can't get that straightened out, they might as well move on with the kids in his place.

DOB just said that Wilson will start the Tuesday after the All-Star break against Milwaukee. He will just get a start in between in the minors.

Makes sense to bring up an extra BP arm with Wilson pitching last night.

Braves just confirmed he’s starting after the break. They weren’t sending him back down for long after his start last night and the rotation issues.

Crazy that Cruz retired. I hope he’s okay and just changing career paths. Glad he was a high bonus kid, and hope he saved some of it.

Wilson deserves another start. If he falters hopefully Wright will be ready for another shot. This start by Folty isnt exactly filling me with confidence. He might need an extended stay at AAA. Anyone know how long he would have to stay to give us another year of control?

Ben Badler posted a picture on his Instagram account of an international pitcher named Albert Rivas who was signing with us. Guessing he’s not a huge prospect if he’s signing for 10k, but glad we are at least still signing some guys.

Glad that the call was made early. Nice to see that it looks like Folty really battled through all those hits tonight, but it's pretty clear that he's not ready to step back in and be that guy that the Braves need him to be if they hope to go deep into October without trading for another front-line starter. Tonight was another of those cases where I'd like to have seen his reactions and demeanor as much as anything - did he pout and whine and just get lucky, or was the result because he was able to buckle down when it counted the most when he didn't have his best stuff?

No... if you’re paying attention it was pretty clear...

Cruz is actually a bit of a savant and has been working on his PhD in theoretical physics. He's actually contributed to some major breakthroughs in M-Theory. Right now his major focus in on Brane cosmology.

Just kidding he's probably screwed.
