THURSDAY 6/2 WAY TOO EARLY GAME vs Giants

The FO needs to think long and hard about how to get Blair on the right path. I'd like to see him back at AAA so he can get his mechanics and mind back to a good place. Let him see some extended success at AAA before bringing him back to MLB. Last time he got one mediocre, rain-shortened start before being called back up. Gant and Jenkins are more than adequate options to fill Blair's spot.

And we're putting Jenkins in the pen why? Dumb

Probably because there's doubt as to whether he'll be able to be successful in the majors as a starter. The lack of K's is concerning. I think there's hope that letting him for max effort for one inning he'll be able to miss some bats.

So if he's going to be successful in the majors why isn't he up there?

I didn't see Jenkins moving to the bullpen necessarily as something permanent. I get the sense that they just want to expose him to the major leagues instead of lingering in AAA. If he succeeds, there's no question whether he would get the opportunity to start.

Totally agree. That sequence of Blair demotion/promotion was one of the biggest head-scratchers this season, in terms of the FO's strategy/plan for these young players.

Gant has been pitching the best of the three. I'd like to see him get a dozen starts or so at the major league level this year.

I'm surprised too because the pen is coming together nicely. I'd rather Jenkins be given every opportunity to make it as a starter. I do think he will eventually be a reliever, but it is too early to make that assumption. Plus Jenkins has been doing well lately as a starter.

There are actually encouraging signs from Blair, despite what the numbers say.

He, like most young players needs to be more consistent, and I agree that little more time in the minors would likely help, but he has periods of dominance.

I believe he was called up prematurely the second time because of an immediate need not because he was ready to come back up. I believe Gant and Jenkins would have been on short rest, so he was needed. I suspect we will see him back down for a while.

that is my opinion as well, many pitchers get their first taste of MLB via short term pen experience

Missed the game, AND found out that I have to get a root canal. Got that scheduled for Thursday.
