THURSDAY MINORS FINAL 6/6/19: M-Braves have six all-stars!

That other OF at Mississippi isn't so bad himself. In fact, waters is hitting .318 (.024 points higher than pache) and has an ops of .861 (.026 points higher than pache)

Thethe. Come on.

Well he started the year as a FV 55, and at the top of that listing according to fangraphs. What he has done clearly this year is assure that his bat will play a little better in the majors as the BP power is translating into game power.

Now, as he continues to show his plus hit tool along with improving power, with of course his all world defense in CF, you are looking at a 65 FV player

If the team doesn't trust Camargo to play RF well enough to give Markakis the rest he obviously needs, Duvall should be with the big club.

I have no idea why we brought Duvall back. This isn't me saying he's washed up. I'm legitimately confused. AA tendered Duvall a contract on the belief that last year was due to his diabetes issues and that he would rebound. He goes to AAA and tears the cover off the ball there yet AA leaves him sitting there.

Why did we bring him back? It makes no sense to pay a guy millions to hit HRs in AAA. If AA and co thought he had enough left in the tank to tender him a contract, why haven't they called him up with what he's done?

Markakis and Duvall should be getting platooned right now. last week, actually.

I'd be fine with Duvall back up, but with the DK signing we may flip him for some salary relief.

The short answer is that Riley got called up instead and is mashing.

I’d guess Joyce is already the odd man out when Inciarte returns.

Depth. Injuries vary from year to year. Some years there are a lot. Some years they occur at certain positions. The fact that there has not been occasion to recall Duvall does not mean it is a bad idea to have him in AAA.

Not recalling Duvall is good news. It means Riley is crushing it.

Allard...

His best outing thus far (by far). Curious player. He doesn't appear to have top-of-the-line stuff and the lack of velocity just magnifies that. Still only 21 and as we have seen with pitchers, one little wrinkle can change things dramatically. Big thing for him is not walking guys and keeping the ball in the park. Same problems as Teheran. I'm not giving up on Allard. I still see Kyle Hendricks as a possible comp.

Allard and Demeritte for Smith.

There was talk of him grabbing a tick of velo but haven’t seen another word about it

I read that in last night's thread as well, but haven't seen it documented anywhere else. I think it's a balance for a guy like Allard. Does he add another tick or two at the expense of control (and his control this year has been spottier than usual)? I don't know if I make that change if I am him (if that is what he is doing). He will rise and fall on this pitchability, which is often an iffy proposition, especially with the juiced up baseball. But if he only reaches the low-90s consistently, that's not enough of an increase in velocity to warrant what he may lose in terms of control. Again, I'm scouting in two dimensions and I will let the player development staff sort all of this out. We have to remember that Allard pitched less than 500 IP in the minors as a high school draftee and was really eased into his career because of the back issue. Maybe things can still come together for him.
