THURSDAY MINORS FINAL 7/13 .... Albies watch begins in earnest

Do you think that's the right move?

Have we learned nothing from Swanson?

I can see it both ways. Not sure Swanson has anything to do with Acuna. Acuna is clearly a special talent. Easily our best prospect since heywood and probably since druw.

Same rules don't apply. I'm of the belief the braves are going to be operating at a much larger budget. The gate has been great so far and Cobb county continues to grow.

You make a lot of declarations that rarely come to fruition.

Why do we need a new LF when we have the guaranteed Kemp 900 OPS for the next 3 years?

So unecessarily hostile when I'm cordial with you. I don't get it.

I'm not being hostile.

You do this all the time. Get caught up in the moment and say something as a fact.

"DPete will be our LF in 2019"

really? I'll take that bet

It wasn't a month ago where you and I were arguing about Kemp... and you assured me he was a 900+ OPS player.

It's ok, and smart, to use some caution with your expectations.

Kemp is not done. I would not be surprised if some time off did him well. You may end up being right and I'll be wrong. I'm OK with that. I'm a fan and I'll never stop being how I am.

Regarding peterson...this is not knew for me. I've been bullish for 2 years now and have put 2018/19 as the target.

See Corbin Clouse got the win tonight in Florida. I checked his season splits and he hasn't given up an earned run since April. 0.56 WHIP in June. Someone to watch.

Clouse is my boy.. I was bummed when he came out of the gate so horrible. He has rebounded and having a great year.. I think the only thing holding his promotion is walks. And that is starting to come in check.

Good to see Watts with a 2 inning save or Soroka.

Clouse, Watts, and Minter could make a nasty back of the bullpen.

Don't forget lindgren

This is why we need to sell some pen pieces. The Market is skewed for pitching and we have excess that could net a nice return. If JJ/Motte/Viz/Freeman/Jo-Ram can have a good rest of july then selling off 2 maybe 3 of them could be great...

Acuna has a legit claim for #1 spect. Guy is unreal this year. Need to keep him down til at least June 10 or so next year We need all his productive years in Cobb County. But it's going to be hard to do that

I agree. Someone asked Keith law today why Robles is still ranked ahead of Acuna when Acuna has been more impressive. Law said that he disagreed, that he thought Robles had at least as good of a hit tool and was the better defender..hogwash.

Does Law realize that Acuna is over a year younger than Robles but playing one level higher (now two levels higher), and hitting in not only a big pitchers league but also one of the biggest pitchers parks in the minors, Mississippi. Translated for age versus level and home parks, Acuna has easily been outhitting Robles this year.

Probably have some fandom homerism here, but I really could see Acuna being the #1 prospect right now. Jimenez and Moncada have not been as impressive this year IMO.

Does this look familiar?

3.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HR, 9.82

It's Bartolo Colon's first outing for AAA Rochster

What the heck does him outhitting him this year have to do with either player's hit tool? Robles has been graded as a potential 70 hit tool player, he's easily as good as Acuna. And it's not hogwash to say Robles is the better defender. Robles is a potential plus defender in CF, Acuna is a future RF. Robles will easily be considered the better defensive prospect because of that alone. Acuna has the better power potential I think, but Robles is no slouch there either. They are both easily in the top 5-10 I think, and you couldn't go wrong with either one. And leaning towards the player who is the true CF prospect when they are very close in value is pretty logical.

What were we supposed to learn from Swanson? We have no way of knowing how keeping him down longer would have changed things. We could keep him at AAA till he is 28 and he would still face a major adjustment period in the majors.

I've been high on Dustin Peterson since we obtained him, but I think a modicum of restraint is in order when discussing his future. I think the big question mark with him is what his power numbers will be. If he doesn't become a consistent 15 HR guy, I wonder if he brings enough to the table with the rest of his game to be anything more than an average player. That said, his hit tool is pretty solid and he could be one of those guys who flourishes as a supporting player in a line-up with a couple of stars. And his splits show he hits LHP quite well. He started out as an infielder and I wonder if the Braves should give him some innings at 3B and 1B to enhance his profile.
