Fried was just scratched. Not sure he's coming back up, wonder why?

Probably in case we use heavy BP use today. Biddle might get some work and then swap them. He has been down long enough to recall now. Could be to stretch Gohard some more. But I like the idea of him staying up and being closly watched.

at this point in the season I would rather have Gohara starting in AAA and Fried on the big team

i really like the idea of using Gohara in "long relief" at the moment. i think he's clearly better than Fried in general. will using him for, like, 3 innings at a time stretch him out enough to eventually shift to the rotation?

Will still need to go down and make at least two starts to stretch him out if he's going to slide into the rotation.

Evan Phillips has struck out all six of the hitters he has faced in the Gwinnett game. He's off to a nice start this season. Don't know much about his stuff and he's had some pretty big control problems as he's moved up the ladder. But he has moved fast and consistently, so I will be curious to see if he gets a shot at some point.

Might be time to give him a shot. Looks like the control is getting better this year, too. He's only at 8 walks in 20.1 innings so far this year to go with 29 strikeouts.

Hursh finishes up in the Gwinnett game, striking out 2 in his inning and giving the Gwinnett patchwork staff (Socolovich, Jackson, Phillips, and Hursh) 17 Ks on the day.

After Wright's last start (which was good), he mentioned the adjustment to throwing every five days instead of every seven like college pitchers do. Maybe that's part of the issues. He was also pretty average in the first half for Vandy last season before turning it on and being dominant over the second half, so let's hope that's what will happen here.

But it's not pretty with him right now.
