THURSDAY MINORS REPORT 5/17/18:

There seems to be a long list of highly regarded Vandy pitchers who have not panned out. Sonny Gray the exception?

???

Over the last 10 years or so, they've had about 9 pitchers drafted in the first round. The only bust so far has been Casey Weathers and he was a reliever.
Carson Fulmer is reaching "bust" category but he's still young. Price, Gray, and Minor turned into successful major league pitchers. Every other pitcher is still highly regarded as a prospect.

David price

Shoot, I would argue Vandy has had pretty big success rates.

David Price, Mike Minor, Sonny Gray, Tyler Beede, Walker Buehler, Carson Fulmer.

Just about everybody who was drafted first round has made it to the Majors, Most of them have had their moments of success there.

i believe only 50% of college pitchers make the majors. so yeah, def a good rate.

Swanson gotta be starting at SS tonight, right?

Definitely wouldn't hurt, but he can probably use another handful of ABs to get his timing back.

Expected him to be activated to go on the road after the weekend, but throwing him back in there now wouldn't surprise me if they feel he's back to 100% either.

Wright's struggles might be a product of one of the things that made him such a coveted draft pick. Wright wasn't as polished as you'd expect from a college pitcher with his resume. He had all the pieces you want in a top pitcher but hadn't put them all together yet. Still hasn't.

I think this is contributing to Wright's inconsistent starts. He's still forging all of his disparate tools into a cohesive unit.
