THURSDAY MINORS ROUNDUP 5/3/18: Time to bump up a few guys

They took out their starter and Gwinnett takes 2-1 lead.

Glad they gave him some run support, big strikeout by Allard with that runner at third to keep it 2-1 after 6 innings. I wonder if that triple was legit or bad defense? I know Carrera is bad on defense, that's why I wonder. He is known for his bat in other words.

Plus no run support at all again tonight.

Was wondering that too. Allard’s finishes

7 ip, 6 h, 1 r, 2 bb, 4 so

ERA - 2.25

Pretty damn good for a 20 year old in AAA. Think we could see him up at some point this year.

Allard shut down a good line-up tonight too. They have three hitters hitting over .324 and he had no problem. He threw 92 pitches to get through 7 innings, great work.

Uggg literally no one has said that. You and thethe are the worst at actually listening and reading comprehension.

Seriously?

You're obviously not reading the same posts that keep talking about all those "in the know" bailing on Kolby and about how those that continue to have him as a Top 100 guy have no idea what they're talking about.

Why does someone referencing numbers only ruffle people when they don't match up to what you like? The point is that he's not blowing people away, but apparently he's as good as any other kid his age pitching at that level - for whatever reason.

Again, I understand why people don't consider him a big-time prospect, but there aren't many of those big-time prospects doing what he's doing as 20 year-olds in AAA either.

The concern with Allard is the LOST velocity

But, there are VERY few pitchers who get buy on <90's fastball in their 20s... give me a list

"He just knows how to pitch pitchers" can still work, but they're more likely to be number three starters at most than aces with the way things have changed today unless they have decent velocity. I don't necessarily mean that they have to be flamethrowers as they do not, but they need to at least average 92-93.

Allard would be a definite sell high for me, sorry. Not this year though but after a couple full years in the major league rotation.

Soroka on the other hand...he's the guy that can and will work and could be an ace. He's a "he just knows how to pitch pitcher", but if a 95 MPH sinker at it's top is sustainable for him, he actually has legit top of the rotation stuff (maybe not true ace though). Even if not, he's a safe MOR that will be for a long time.

No one has said Allard can't be successful because he can't hit 95 which is what you said. Again... reading comprehension problems.... actually your comment hinted at people on this board saying no pitcher can be successful if they can't touch 95. So again... literally NO ONE has said that or come close to that.
