Tim Tebow to pursue baseball

I've never understand why anyone had issues with him kneeling.

That rascal Jesus, stirring up trouble again: "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

;-)

My problem with him steams from arrogance mainly. He was a great athlete who happened to be in the right place at the right time at Florida. He was never a great QB he was just a football player and should be playing in someone's secondary right now, but his arrogant pig headed QB or bust stance has caused him to waste his talent. No different than the ped users or the abusers or whoever else. The NFL has proven to everybody but him he's not a QB.

He'll sign with someone who has a Single A affiliate in Gators country to sell jerseys and tickets.

This.

The only issues I have with it is the stupid amount of media attention it will get for no reason, and the fact it will rob an actual baseball player of a professional roster spot. It will be just like when Jordan tried to play.

But if I were him I'd do it too. Playing baseball at any professional level would be pretty freaking awesome!

Hm...I don't think deciding to play a position you feel you are best at should be equivocated to PED use/spousal abuse in any context, even in a waste of talent scenario - being misguided isn't the same as breaking a rule. Who knows, he could have been worse at secondary.

Still a waste of talent by being stupid. No difference.

You've said a lot of dumb things, but this may take the cake.

So being stupid and only hurting your own career is no different than being stupid and physically hurting your spouse in addition to your career?

Those two scenarios are equivalent in your mind? Do we need to check on your wife periodically?

I've never understood that either. Lots of great college (not good pro) players drafted each year that don't make it and lots of Christains in the sport. Why they latched onto him...who knows. Same thing has happened with Manziel (for other reasons than football of course). It's like why do I care which bar he came out of this week and what he said drunk lol.

ESPN literally sent a memo to their on air people telling them to talk about Tebow as often as possible. With Manziel I live in Texas so it's a test a little bit relevant.

Not married never will be, that said, still the end result is the same. A career thrown away based on stupid act. I see no large difference in that context.

Old mainline Protestant that I am, that has always been the Bible verse I have in mind when watching Tebow.

That's a pretty asinine statement.

For one, it's unlikely he would have made a successful transition to another position. And he's been pulling in multi-millions from ESPN for the last like 3 years now. There wasn't much motivation to pursue a career other than NFL QB, cause that's what he wanted to do. It's also a better move for the sake of his health as well.

Also, no one has given him a legit shot to be a back-up QB since the Jets. That's mostly because he isn't a good qb and won't ever be, but bad QBs still make NFL rosters every year. He's very limited on what he can do, but at the very least he proved in Denver he can stand in the pocket and not turn the ball the over, unlike other back-up QB's (I'm looking at you Brandon Wheeden). But teams usually don't put up with a media circus for marginal players.

I have no problem with Tebow if he wants to pursue a baseball career. If he has enough tools to get a team to sign him and give him a shot, fine. He can try to do whatever he wants as long as it doesn't hurt me.

I just don't know why every media outlet still goes nuts whenever Tebow does stuff like this. We're talking about a guy trying to sign a minor league contract and who is an incredible long shot to every pan out. There's no reason to keep reporting about what Tebow's doing. Let Tebow do what he wants, I just don't need to hear about it.

Tebow struggled some in A ball (.220/.311/.336), which is to be expected with such a long layoff from baseball. In A+, he's hitting really well (.317/.398/.547). He's turning in a respectable year (.247/.335/.395).
