I dunno, I thought Dr. King had a lot of good points.

Did you actually read the article by chance? It’s a fairly neutral explanation of why some people find it important to share their pronouns. It makes no reference to people who disagree and offers very little opinion on the science or anything else. It seems honestly helpful for explaining to an uninitiated audience why people do something that might otherwise confuse them.

The academic and expert class has lost all credibility.

They should have let Dr. Abbot speak.

They've invited him to give a scientific talk and I believe he has accepted. But this does not undo their mistake. When you invite someone to speak, it doesn't imply endorsement of every single thing that the speaker has ever done or said.

Booting Abbott may have been a bridge too far. This one is getting lots of attention, and the people defending the action are making it look worse for their viewpoint. Now a Berkeley chair has resigned because his department was too woke to invite Abbott now and maybe ever. There was also an NYT piece with spittle flecked, raving mad quotes in it. A Twitter thread breaks it down pretty well:

My favorite quote was from a professor and dept chair at Williams College:

“This idea of intellectual debate and rigor as the pinnacle of intellectualism comes from a world in which white men dominated”

Yep, that's one of the doozies from the NYT article. Whoever said that couldn't have followed through with the thinking behind that quote to the second level.
