Bit of a ladder pull from one of the greatest female athletes of all time at the twilight of her career telling the younger generation “who cares?”[tw]1539306098448117760[/tw]
I really do hope the left continues these positions.
I don’t know probably lots of colleges that give athletes that otherwise wouldn’t ever sniff a college a free tuition ?
she is right.
Too much import is placed on the results of high school level sports.
I'm sure in your circle of friends there is someone that once won something decades ago that cant let go
The question of " who cares" is a good one.
Who cares what I think. Study after study (after study) shows that youth sports (and similar team/club activities) has an enormously powerful positive effect. Rapinoe telling little girls it doesn’t matter is condescending given how much she’s personally benefitted from it.she is right.

It seems to me not too difficult to make trans students and athletes feel welcomed and fulfilled, while keeping women's sports for women. My son played two sports in his freshman year. Football in the fall. And ultimate frisbee in the spring. The latter is a club sport open to everyone, but it is fairly high level team that is well supported with a coach and budget for going to tournaments. They travelled to multiple tournaments and even won a regional championship, which is a lot more than the football team will ever sniff. Both were very positive experiences for him. Even at a small college, there are many opportunities for everyone to participate in sports. I have fond memories of winning a racquetball tournament back in the day.Who cares what I think. I do not know what the best policy is for trans student athletes. I think it’s important that they feel accepted and belong. But I don’t think it’s helpful to tell young women that their feelings aren’t valid and their accomplishments don’t matter.
you asked the question, " who cares"
end of the day, youth/ high school sports are really not that important

Deeply involved for over 25 years - that experience says
those making money and the parents ( the adults in a nut shell) level of care
long outlasts the participants.
Outside of friendships made, which would/could happen with any activity
that has no gender differentiation.
Chess club, chorus, band, etc etc etc
Lol
So oppressed
