Today in Rand Paul

Funds have to be allocated for Perry County before the NYT can mention the spending of millions on gender studies on the other side of the world?

quit acting a fool

Mr. Paul’s office did not respond to requests for comment.

Unemployment rates in some rural counties are in the double digits. Rates of hunger and poverty, high before the crisis, have soared. Kentucky has lost more than 20,000 state and local government jobs since February, and with budgets crippled by falling tax receipts, officials must choose between raising taxes and cutting services.

Acting a fool? These things are related. Rand didn't have the option to vote for relief for Perry County and also vote against wasteful spending like Pakistani gender studies. Perhaps you should be outraged at Nancy for including such a poor use of resources. Without it's inclusion, Rand may have voted for the bill.

just curious...anyone know what the money for gender programs in Pakistan is for

reading the snippets available i would guess that provision is there to make sure part of the foreign aid to Pakistan goes to programs specifically designed to help women and girls...any clarification would be appreciated

Don't get me wrong the Paki's got some real smokeshows, but I'd rather allocate it for domestic women at the very least. 'MURICA first an all!

we're all God's children...i'm in favor of helping Perry County Kentucky AND women and children in Pakistan...as long it is money well spent

there's a program called PEPFAR that has saved 14 million lives in Africa...i'd say that's money well spent

I am astonished how ignorant people are of their government and how it functions

this appropriations bill has been worked on for months with lots of input from the administration...it is nothing but a political game for them to raise objections now...they had plenty of opportunity to shape the bill...of course it is possible (even likely) that very poorly chosen one has not been paying attention to the negotiations...but that's on him

I'm also astonished by some of the ignorance around here, but that has nothing to do with criticism of Rand Paul not voting for this bill.

I think you both know that, but it's difficult to tell what is parody around here lately.

Rand (and any senator for that matter) could have blocked it because it required unanimous consent to be brought for a vote

But something something subverting democracy.
There are times when blocking a vote may be called for. I'm surprised anyone thinks this was one of them. If it had been Nancy's original craziness then this would be a different story.
He argued it against it and voted against it, and lost.

Rand Paul just told Fox that if the electoral college is abolished then conservatives will “never win a presidential election again.”

Where is this little sniveling piece of **** fake constitutionalist at right now?
