TOP 30 PROSPECT LIST: FEBRUARY, 2015

Dang! Great info
LOL...I like little nuggets like that. Albies is well regarded in scouting circles, but it's also interesting that he was about a $350k signing I think. Many scouts didn't think he'd do much, but I've always heard comparisons to Furcal. The first season I missed any rookie ball was last year. That won't happen again!

What I read about Albies is that he was about 135 pounds when he signed and he's put on about 15 solid pounds. At 135, you can guess why some scouts wondered if he'd be big enough to hold up. No question about his speed though. The guy is supposedly lightning.

Albies will likely start the season in Rome, but I wonder how aggressive the new player development regime will be with him. It seemed to be the Wren/Manno/DeMacio strategy to move guys up fast (I thought too fast at times). If Albies eats up Rome, does he see Carolina in 2015? Also, does he stay at SS long term? For now, there's no reason to move him, but if he rockets up the system, do we think about him as possibly playing CF?

I certainly wouldn't rule it out given his lightning speed and good arm.
