I really love Touki as a prospect. I think he has the ceiling of a superstar.

Here are his stats from the last 9 starts:

50 IP

2.88 ERA

1.18 WHIP

.194 AVG

24 BB

50 K

I didn't realize he'd had that good a run. I knew he'd taken some steps forward, but had struggled a little of late. Those numbers are pretty encouraging. Would be nice if he could maintain that through the rest of the season. I'd love to see Newcomb do the same and build off his last great start.

He is still walking way too many batters, and that hasn't really improved much. Until he gets that figured out he will continue to be nothing more than "interesting". He is definitely one of the few guys in the organization with TOR potential though...Touki, Newcomb, Folty, Allard and Fried.

Even if he becomes nothing but a reliever or 5th starter that trade was just amazing.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does TOR mean? I've seen this term a lot lately and Google didn't bear any fruit.

Walks are Toukis only downfall really. If he can get that at all under control then he is an ace no doubt. Him and Newcomb need to work on that all offseason with McDowell or somebody else. Let Smoltz or Glavine help out as long as it's controlled.

Guess how many Kershaw walked in A-ball. 4.6.

He was younger than Toussaint, but not even by a full year.

The walk rate for Touki is still a concern. Hopefully he keeps on improving it as he has a very live arm which is exciting.

I mean, we know Touki's issue right now is his overall command. We knew that when we got him. It seems like he's improving it, as his K rate has gone up while at least keeping the BBs constant. I'm not sure it's a 'concern'. We all know Touki has a massive ceiling but has a long way to go, and he just turned 20 in A-ball.

If he's still walking a ton of guys in AA a couple years from now, I'll consider it a concern in terms of him maybe not realizing his potential. But even then, I'm prepared for that to happen.

But if Touki wasn't still walking guys, he'd be a top-20 prospect in all of baseball right now.

(Has given up 4 walks, 3 hits and 5 ER in 4 innings)

I love Touki, but dude isn't exactly killing it tonight.

I don't care what the stats are... 11 K's through 4 innings is special... control is at least something you can work on. The hits besides the homer weren't hit hard and there have been some error problems.
