Not sure if it needed its own thread but didn't see whereelse to put it other than the MLB thread. Feel free to lock or delete mods

End of an era. I was really hoping Touki would turn into something. He and Newk had the same problem. Great stuff without any control. At least Touki seemed to have his head screwed on straight, which is why I was hopeful.

Touki Was always better than Newk. I think we screwed Touki up a bit. He improved as he spent time in each league then we started the yo-yo crap with him between AAA and the majors. I think he couldn’t just focus on pitching he always was being shuffled from pen to starting from majors to minors. I wish we had just left Touki alone to develop in AAA. He was still very young.

There's literally nothing to support this. Newcomb must be to you like wright is to Cajun and Olson is to me

Newk was the same every step of the way. Touki and a 19/20/21 year old in the minors improved along the way as he moved along slowly. He also had more pitches and probably better overall stuff.

I guess, but...

Newcomb 3.2 fWAR in 148 games
Touki -0.3 fWAR in 49 games

ETA...
Newcomb 3:0 bWAR
Touki -0.8 bWAR

That’s pretty significant lol
Touki has better stuff but they did have the same control issues

I’m just relieved we’re finally starting to get closure on a lot of the John Regime’s top pitching prospects.

I loved both of them, and then I grew to hate both of them. Nothing is sadder than a pitcher with great talent that can't throw strikes
