Trade deadline thread

Drew Gilbert (50 FV)

So basically the Scherzer trade again.

Smart of them, but that’s a lot of pitching they’ll need to replace this off-season.

So, basically AJSS? I would’ve done that easily, but Mets probably had a premium for trading with us.

Not really. Like half this money will still be on their books and they’ll need to replace these guys somehow

Hes’s probably going to spend over $100m when you factor in the luxury tax for Scherzer and Verlander to pitch for other teams. The return is two very good prospects that are similarly ranked to what Drew Waters was at his peak (not suggesting they’ll become Drew Waters but guys ranked outside of the top 50 are coin flips at best).

By all means, credit to the Mets for bailing while they still could, but this is not a good outcome for them.

Tigers are close to trading Michael Lorenzen to the Phillies.

Infield prospect Hao-Yu Lee is part of the proposed return heading to Detroit.

The guy from Tennessee that flipped the bird to visiting fans after HRs? He'll fit in perfectly as a Met. Easy to cheer against.

Buster Olney says the Braves have been involved in the starting pitching market, but skepticism is there they will land a starter

For Him? We could have beat that. That's a Steal for the Phillies.

Lots of guys that would be of use to us have gone for packages we could easily beat. I've assumed to this point that it was because AA was chasing other targets but if we don't end up with a starter, it's AA's own fault.
