Meh. Money is never going to be an issue for that team while he is the owner. This is an opportunity lost situation in where this season was a huge bust.

Hes’s probably going to spend over $100m when you factor in the luxury tax for Scherzer and Verlander to pitch for other teams. The return is two very good prospects that are similarly ranked to what Drew Waters was at his peak (not suggesting they’ll become Drew Waters but guys ranked outside of the top 50 are coin flips at best).

By all means, credit to the Mets for bailing while they still could, but this is not a good outcome for them.

Verlander moving likely clears the path for all the other pitchers to move. Hopefully AA gets one.

Lots of guys that would be of use to us have gone for packages we could easily beat. I've assumed to this point that it was because AA was chasing other targets but if we don't end up with a starter, it's AA's own fault.
