Trade deadline thread

He’s expensive relative to his role (4.7m). I’d eat my hat if the Braves tendered him this off-season

Yes. If Snit used him 2-3 times a week to rest the entire IF it may be different, but this guy will rot the bench I am afraid. I wouldn’t pay a bench piece that.

Lopez has two arb years left

He's a big non-tender candidate this offseason. He's making $3.7 million this year so he'd be a good bet to make $5-$6 million next year. That's getting a bit steep for a utility infielder. Royals almost certainly would have non-tendered him.

Not a bad move. Shores up a position of weakness with a guy who can pick em. We probably could have had him for anything. Hearn was more about clearing a roster spot than anything.

He’ll sign for three really team-friendly seasons this off-season (if not sooner).

Still think we should trade for Eloy Jimenez. He can play LF and DH. Plus one of the lefties from the White Sox ( Bummer or Crochet )

Royals fans are pretty annoyed that they gave up Lopez for Hearn, who the Braves bought just six days ago, and when they traded Chapman to Texas earlier in the month and could have just gotten Hearn then.

Snell and Stroman would take 2 big arms off the market for sure. I still say if AA trades for a starter he’ll be controllable past this year.

They shouldn't be annoyed. They were almost a lock to non-tender Lopez. There's not a lot of demand for him also, especially with his salary which is spendy for an all glove backup SS.

Honestly, we probably could have had him for literally anyone in our system. The Royals save over a million dollars trading him. That's the real return.

Eduardo Rodriguez might be our last shot at getting someone who can legitimately make a difference.

Based on names we’ve heard mentioned, I believe this to be the case as well.

Lorenzen from the Tigers may also be an option, and I haven’t heard him mentioned. He’s pitching like a #3/#4 this season, and has lots of BP experience in the event Fried and Wright are full strength in October.
