Trade deadline thread

If you want a good laugh, go check out the Braves comment section under this acquisition on Facebook. Fans are not happy about Charlie being replaced. They think he is a better player LOL

Morosi: The Braves are working to add a starting pitcher, with less than 48 hours before the deadline.

They’ve checked with the Mets regarding Justin Verlander but are not currently engaged in negotiations on JV.

They’ve had a boner for JV for a while now. He’s definitely the type that would be a game changer. The Mets would hate trading him to us.

I have a bit of a hard time believing the Mets would deal him to Atlanta. Not saying it’s impossible, but I just have a hard time seeing it happening.

When you look at potential starters, the pickings are getting a little slim with Montgomery off the board and now unlikely Snell and Stroman are dealt. Maybe looking at Rodriguez in Detroit or Flaherty in St Louis.

Mets would have to eat some salary for next year but it’s an impact arm. Mets may just wanna dump the money and use it towards Ohtani. Would Grissom get it done?

Verlander has a 3.16 ERA this year. I would imagine he’d cost more than Acuna assuming the Mets chip in a similar amount of money. He’s be an excellent acquisition and exactly what we need but I don’t see Cohen allowing it.

If we got him, his wife in a bikini would have to be added to the winning photos

I dunno. He has the same 3.8 FIP that Morton does. Just too much money there to make a reasonable deal imo.

If AA has a weakness as a GM it's that he sometimes falls in love with his own cleverness. To be fair, he spins straw into gold more often than other GMs but I think that sometimes makes him rely too much on trying to do this.

Sometimes you can find gold in the scrap heap. Other times the scrap heap guys are there for a reason. I get the feeling AA at times puts too much faith in thinking he's found a perfect piece for free only to see that guy crash and burn. The opportunity cost of this is missing out on good deals.

If Striker has a weakness it’s posting a long winded hypothesis on this board falling in love with his own lawyery voice overs in a very Morgan Freeman tone
