Trade deadline thread

Not upset about the deadline. I feel our pen is better. I like taking those guys out of colorado. The Braves were never going to go crazy. The roster was set pretty much. Once wright and fried are healthy the rotation will be set. Just not enough roster spots to add. Actually surprised they got hand. Nothing special but another roster decision that will have to be addressed in the near future.

Braves don’t have a lot pitchers with options outside of the 5th roster spot (Chirinos is gone the moment Fried is called up).. At this point, if they add they’ll have to cut someone.

You think they are better that Elder?

Probably about the same level. It's more so insurance for our current guys and incase one of them went down. And if they did, we'd have to work some insane voo doo magic to make a run anyways.

Adding a bench SS and a LOOGY is about the least AA could have done to avoid getting an F at the deadline. So if I was handing out grades he gets a D+.

The tigers once again blew the trade value of their most valuable SP.

I wonder how much cup of coffee call up in May tanked Grissom’s trade value. I think the consensus was pretty high on him in the fall and he’s destroyed AAA this year. I have no feel for how the Braves or other teams view him.

It tanked his SS value for sure

Apparently he didn't want to be traded. Not sure how that's their fault.

They knew what those 10 teams were. They could have had deals lined up besides one with the dodgers. They could have checked with him before finalizing that deal. Now they get absolutely nothing for him.

is that based on an actual report or because he didn't want to be traded to LA.. I would imagine the Tigers have his contract laying around somewhere and probably could have read the teams he had on that list.. If you are making a last hour deal with one of those teams, then by all measures, it IS your fault.

Apparently the Guardians are going to release Segura. If that's the case, we should just sign him so he doesn't wind up murdering us down the road.

I’m not upset at the deadline. I really wanted impact guys and not many were moved. Doubt the Mets deal fairly with us. We beat them so bad they are not going to try again for a couple of years.

We also have a weak farm so it’s tough to pay when there is a sellers market.

This expansion of the playoffs means we will see a lot of sellers markets.

Aa is worried about depth if you get an injury. We have a lot of it’s just a guy to fill in innings.

Not a lot of guys who are going to make our playoff roster moving.

Not a lot required to upgrade our pitching from the last several playoff appearances.

If fried is fried then we have an upgrade over the title team with fried strider and any if wright, Morton, or elder.

AA saying there weren't as many players available and those that were had too high of price tags is completely bogus. The strength of this market was rental starters and a lot of them went cheap.
