Trade Deadline: What are you willing to do?

It's easy to criticize trade proposals especially when you don't put yourself out there. Just say "Teheran for XYZ would be stupid for the Braves or Team X would never pay that for Teheran" and leave it at that without putting forward an option. I guess its more fun to criticize than be criticized.

So, I wanted to start this thread to see what everyone WOULD do in the form of trade, given an opportunity. The only rules would be to make it at least "somewhat" realistic, always a subjective goal. After all, who would have predicted the Miller trade with Arizona? But, Teheran for Trout is obviously not going to happen.

Having said that, I will start:

Teheran to Boston for Moncada. As an alternative, I would take a Teheran for Devers and Basabe.

Teheran to Texas for Gallo.

Teheran to Toronto for Alford, Vlad Guerrero, Max Pentecost (I might not do this one, but I really like Pentecost).

Teheran to Houston for Bregman

My favorite would be:

Teheran and Freeman to Houston for 3B Bregman, 1B Reed, RF Tucker, LF Fisher, 2B/OF Kemp

What you got?

From a broad strategic perspective, I'd rather use the funds available to add to payroll to pick up talent via the FA market than to trade away assets for other players. As a corollary, I would control risk by diversifying and avoiding contracts longer than four years, and would sign three or four second-tier free agents (ie those without a qualifying offer) than go after the big names with qualifying offers.

The main areas to upgrade are third (options are Prado, Freese, Turner) and catcher (Jason Castro is my first choice). I would also spend some funds to build a strong bench and possibly sign a reliever with a track record of success to help out in high leverage situations.

In general just buy low and sell high. Selling high for Teheran would be Benintendi, Bregman, etc. I don't think Moncada could be had.

If Moore, Archer, Gray, or any other controllable long term asset having a down year can be acquired for a below market deal, do it. It's not that I expect any of those particular names to be available for below market, but one of them might be, and SOMEONE will be. Just need to find out who is undervaluing who, or who over values one of our guys.

Unload Markakis. Pay this year and next if you have to. Free up money for the FA crop

After this one, this one sucks next one is great. Acquire marginal or no talent.

Aquire crappy contracts that last the remainder of this year and through next year, but not the following year. Butler would probably help us acquire talent from the A's. Sandoval is too long term to try this, IMO.

Sell relief pitching at the deadline. Closers are overvalued at the deadline. Trade Viz, put someone else in that role and trade them at the deadline next year too.

My favorite would be:

Teheran and Freeman to Houston for 3B Bregman, 1B Reed, RF Tucker, LF Fisher, 2B/OF Kemp

I probably would have done this one this past offseason, but I have my doubts about Reed's contact ability now and would rather keep Freddie.

About the only trades I would consider are:

Julio for Bregman

Julio for Benintendi or Moncada

Julio and Viz for Devers and Espinosa

Julio and Viz for Benintendi and Kopech

No thanks on Gallo or your Toronto trade.

If Trump bought the Braves, made smart trades and helped us win and be great again, I'd vote for him. I would sell out for glory.

As long as he called John Hart a stiff.

I'd give a LOT for Bregman. And a kidney.

I hope that Aybar, AJ, Frenchy, Markakis, and JJ are all traded. I do not expect much. I'd prefer we pay their way and see if we can get a couple of useful pieces.

I'd Keep Tehran unless i get blown away. I'm likely keeping Viz for now, maybe trade at winter meetings if I feel good about Simmons and Winkler and Minter being ready in 17.

I think I'd look to make myself the 3rd team in a trade. Maybe there is a trade but a team can't work out the money. We could take on the money in exchange for talent.

I still would like us to do Olivera for Sandoval + from Sox.

Not going to sift through the 67+ page sinkhole on Trade Julio/Vizcaino, but it doesn't seem like there's been a lot of talk of potential interest in Viz from the Red Sox in Viz since Kimbrel went down. Would think that Wren might be bending some ears in the FO up in Boston.

Vizcaino to the Mariners for Tyler O'Neill.

Vizcaino to the Mariners for D. J. Peterson and Nick Neidert.

Vizcaino to the Cardinals for Randal Grichuk.

Vizcaino to the Dodgers for Alex Verdugo.

Toussaint, Sims, a choice of Ruiz or Riley, and Ricardo Sanchez to the Rays for Evan Longoria.
