Trade Deadline: What are you willing to do?

Not really. Braun's "value" is directly tied to the amount of money they're willing to eat. They could easily "buy" a better prospect like the Braves did with Touki. The Braves ate $9.5 million of an expiring contract to get Toussaint. I'd imagine Milwaukee could hope for a similar return IF they're willing to eat $40+ million worth of what's left on Braun's deal. The question is, who has that need enough to cut loose of a Top 100 prospect? Not many teams.

He'd be a "fit" here, but would you rather have Braun for 4 years and $40 million or Cespedes for 4 years and $100 million PLUS Touki or Allard given the fact that we can easily afford that type of outlay (whether they choose to play in the deep end of the pool or not, they CAN afford to)? Money isn't going to be an issue for the Braves for some time - buying down contracts in our situation is more or less useless.

I'm not sure I like either for Atlanta really. I just think Milwaukee can do better than Tyrell Jenkins. Braun would be great for a bigger market team with a dh/lf need. Somebody will bite and Milwaukee probably will kick in money.

Would I trade Jenkins for Braun/lucroy? I guess, but I wouldn't trade any of the best starting prospects for both.

IDK, He's owed $76M through the end of his contract with buy out. He's obtaining his numbers in a good hitters park, in a generally good hitters division. That's a lot of cash. I might try to get it done before the deadline and expand it if they are truly looking to shed payroll.

Maybe go Braun, Garza, OF Phillips for Markakis and Blair.

Then turn around and try to move Braun in August.

On what planet does adding Matt Garza help the Braves in any way?

He's part of the price for the rest of the deal. At worst he is a back end starter who you can run out there everyday without regard to HIS future.

It's almost certain that, it the Braves trade Teheran which they should do given the right return, they will be picking up one or more guys just like Garza in the offseason for anywhere from $4-$8 M per year.

Garza is a reclamation, fills a hole and might be useful (or might not) but he helps you get Phillips without giving up much to get him. Essentially Markakis = Garza. You get Braun and Phillips for Blair. Then you try to move Braun (or keep him if you want)

Bregman on the cover of thew newest BBA. Moncada was on the issue before. So much for that trade.

Just read where the Rays are getting a lot of interest from non contending clubs on their starters. Braves?

If they took on Garza's money and traded Julio, you might be the only person watching the Braves next year.

The Brewers are having trouble moving Braun. Why would the Braves trade for him and then try to move him???

Having or not having Julio, having or not having Garza isn't going to make a difference in attendance at the new park. Fans will show because its a new park. They won't fill the place because the team sucks, with or without Teheran. Hard core fans will attend because they want to watch baseball and will have interest in the prospects. Casual and sidewalk fans don't know who Teheran is much less Garza. It's not like Teheran is a name that casual fans will recognize.

As for Braun, it's a multi-faceted trade. The main thing is to get Phillips. Beyond that, the Braves could just decide to keep Braun and play him as an everyday power RH bat OR they could move him for a prospect or two by paying PART of the money he is owed. He's difficult to move because of what he's owed, not how he's currently performing.

Nothing personal, but you're becoming the new Murph.
