Trade Deadline: What are you willing to do?

Upton has outperformed your username...

Upton -- .259/.307/.444 2.0 WAR

JHey -- .231/.322/.319 1.3 WAR

Wow. I knew he was struggling, but that's atrocious. All that 1.3 of WAR is defensive, too.

Looking at Inside Edge, I see he's made 6 non-routine plays this year. That's a lot of dough (and WAR) for six plays.

Not that it matters all that much, but Garza is clubhouse poison. I wouldn't want him around.

As for Melvin. Good for him. Still can't stand him, but no one can argue that he's resurrected his career to some extent. Still Ks a ton and isn't a true CF anymore. Still, could be a very good option for a team looking for what I would call a Fourth-Plus OF. He can start for a long stretch at a corner OF spot and slide over to CF in a pinch. Some power and decent base-running off the bench if that's where he is. Probably a really good fit for an AL team.

Without trading Julio or Freddie what would it take to get Archer from TB? Would love to see if McDowell could do with Archer and we'd have our "ace". Thoughts? Would you part with Folty? Wisler? Newcomb? Hopefully people answer lol

Folty is tough, a potential top 3 of Julio, Folty, Archer would be nasty.

I'd deal Wisler in a second, we have many of him in the system.

Newcomb i'd trade also.

Not against trying to get a controllable SP, Sale seems way too expensive.

Soroka, Newcomb, Wisler if they want pitching back, i dont know if thats enough though.

Rosenthal says 8 teams have the pieces to get Archer surely we are one of them. Have to guess cuz they don't tell us who they are other then Pittsburgh

Why in the world are you guys even "discussing" giving big assets away (that we killed ourselves to acquire)for of all things...a pitcher. ONE pitcher who could get hurt two days after we trade for him and then our rebuild is shot. It's not like we are a "player away". It has been discussed that this is a "sellers market". The only teams that should be buying, are teams that need that extra piece to win it all. For heavens sakes....we "should" be taking advantage of the market, not buying into it. If Coppy gives away assets for a pitcher...he should be tarred and feathered and rode out of town. This is just batnuts......

Speaking of the Rays- If they start a selloff I'd be interested in Longoria and Moore. If we sign a catcher in offseason we actually could have a decent squad.

This is a situation we NEED to look into. If Dave Stewart is dangling a player at a position of need that is at a low point of value, we need to make an offer. Problem is, Dave Stewart probably has too much pride to trade him back to us.

I'm pretty sure that there are some frequent posters who would be perfectly content if we had a top-three farm system and a fourth-place MLB club every season.

I don't see us trading Newcomb. He fits our current profile. He was a 2 sport star who could be a late bloomer now focused on baseball. He has high upside as well as risk. He's also a big ole boy. Most importantly his stock is down. I think any players traded to acquire will be based around players whose value is currently high (even if it's not their peak}

Folty, Mallex, Vizcaino, Cabrera, Jenkins, Gant, Whalen, Ellis, Camargo, and Weigel would be the ones I'd see most likely traded.
