Trade Deadline: What are you willing to do?

He wasn't a bad player offensively when he got his look last year.

Umm, he posted a .293 OBP and ran into 10 HRs in 200 PAs. How exactly is that not bad?

And you still think Freese had nothing to offer this team? Really? Compared to Adonis Garcia? Seriously? You needed to see more of Garcia to understand his talent level?

The more exchanges I have with you, the more obvious it is how little you know about roster construction and baseball in general.

Freese had nothing to offer a team that wasn't competing. And cool... More personal attacks from you... Par for the course... You can't make a point without them.

Typical Enscheff... If someone doesn't agree... They don't know anything

I made my point just fine. The personal attacks were just added in out of frustration. I apologize.

And I just explained how Freese could have helped as a trade chip, especially if they also got him to agree to a 2nd year option. Value is value, and Freese signed a below market contract and now has very good value. Again, it's a lack of understanding how to extract value from roster construction on your part.

Actually depends what he costs. You're dealing with absolutes when you don't even know the price. We would be foolish to not even inquire. If it's going to rape the system, I don't want to do the deal. What's so hard to understand here?

You don't need to know the price. If he were available for a price that made sense to a rebuilding team, a contender would've traded for him already. What's hard to understand about that?

Why even scout him then? Look I don't think we are trading for Lucroy but sorry... I think it's dumb not to at least inquire on arguably the best catcher in the game this year.

You know they inquired. The Brewers probably started their discussions with Allard or Albies. One thing we have learned about Coppy is that he answers the phone when it rings, and when it's not ringing he'll pick it up and call someone.

And we have no idea where the discussions have gone or where they may or may not go.

Cards still sniffing around for late-inning help. Think we really match up well with them for a big deal...

Vizcaino and Inciarte for Grichuk, Harrison Bader, Carson Kelly, and Nick Plummer.

That seems like an overpay by the Cards, but then the price of pitching is really high.

Exactly. With what we got yesterday, sale while we can. That would be HUGE for the Braves. I love Grichuk and I think a guy like him speeds our timeline up a lot as well.

I think the return - Plummer is still a very good return for Ender and Viz. I may be de valuing our guys a bit though.

They're also rumored to be looking for help at the top of the order - Inciarte would be a really good fit there. Would allow them to bring back Holliday for another couple years since he'd be cheap.

(Would leave Plummer off if push came to shove.)

Inciarte is a career 89 wRC+ player and 69 wRC+ this year. Why would they want his bat over the bats they already have that are much better? Even weirder, why would they want his bat at the top of the lineup?

Ender is league average offensively with a little room to grow. He is obviously down this year but has had a better June and July to show that last year was not a fluke. The defensive value Ender provides is what hold his value the highest. He is still a 3+ WAR player no matter what other stat you want to highlight..

I'm sure his nagging injuries have had nothing to do with his down year.

He's been a league average hitter in one of the 3 years he's participated in. He wasn't a league average hitter in the minors. What is the justification that he's a league average hitter?

Certainly, he has a ton of defensive value, but that's not what we are talking about.
