TRHFIM

The path to success for the GOP is pretty clear. They need to get it together and be the grownup in the room. Stop the nonsense conspiracy theories, stop with the poorly considered tax cuts. Step up and lead.

Fiscal responsibility, limited government, concern for the individual over companies or other organisations (take the populism Trump introduced and run with it), infrastructure investment, focus on the economy.

Quit engaging with the left on identity politics. Let culture war issues fade to the background.

But you need a leader to unite behind to do that. Not sure who that might be.

Culture war issues won’t fade into the back because the left owns academia/Hollywood/news media.

The news about Matt Gaetz made me think of this for some reason:

Man, if you had told me that Matt gaetz was ****ing underage girls while talking about fighting against sex trafficking and sucking off trump

I would be just as shocked as I am when I see the sunrise comes from the east each morning

Matt Gaetz is one of the most disgusting human beings on this planet. That interview with Tucker was hard to watch... rambling incoherently and painfully awkward (for both him an Tucker)... I don't know how anyone could watch that and be like, oh yeah... that guy is innocent.

That’s quite the stretch, and honestly seems to do the opposite of what he’s implying. Given there isn’t a link between the two, it would likely give Gaetz some cover more than put a spotlight on him.

Do you think most people will search to ensure they don’t have a link?

This is a big part of Scott Adams story. Perception and persuasion.

Things have come out about Epstein with regularity for the past couple years. It’s a big, popular story and so it persists.

And we also know the fbi, led by mueller at the time, suspiciously did not charge Epstein when they knew what was happening.

Look, I’m not going to take the position of the FBI being honest and not having iffy motives. I just think the connection between these two stories is incredibly tenuous and frankly more charitable to Gaetz than he likely deserves. I’m all for letting the evidence lead wherever it does, but it’s a pretty big leap to a conspiracy involving Epstein.

Nothing is a big leap for duhduh conspiracy wise.

Pubs are wisely going for the top left quadrant. This should be the largest party realignment of my lifetime.

https://www.axios.com/house-gop-mem...campaign=editorial&utm_content=politics-trump

Behind the scenes: On the afternoon flight between fundraisers, home state Rep. Jim Banks, who leads the largest bloc of House conservatives, the Republican Study Committee, handed his memo to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

Banks argues in the memo that "both parties are undergoing coalitional transformations" and that Republicans shouldn't fight the trend of corporate donors pulling back from the GOP.
"Our electoral success in the 2022 midterm election will be determined by our willingness to embrace our new coalition," the memo says. "House Republicans can broaden our electorate, increase voter turnout, and take back the House by enthusiastically rebranding and reorienting as the Party of the Working Class."
"There is an embittered and loud minority in the GOP that finds our new coalition distasteful, but President Trump's gift didn’t come with a receipt," he adds.
What's next: Banks offered McCarthy ideas for how Republicans could make further inroads with working class voters. On the messaging front, he recommends:

Contrasting the GOP's immigration policies against "Biden's border crisis"
Hammering the Chinese Communist Party's "predatory trade practices" and arguing that "Democrats' coziness with China results from their coziness with Wall Street"
Attacking Democrats for COVID lockdowns, hammering "wokeness and identity politics" and going after Big Tech.
He suggests Republicans hold "working class roundtables" and create a "working families task force."

Inject this directly into my veins.

Who knows if this is even valid but we’ve learned countless times now from the past few years that any news regarding a Trump adjacent figure is originally 100% wrong and when the story has time to breathe we learn it’s the exact opposite.

I don’t expect the leftist brigade on this site to ever learn though.

Gaetz just feels slimy to me. That's not fair, and I have no idea if it's true. But he isn't someone I'm going to feel confident about assuming the best of. I'm not pleased with how abrasive, unlikeable, and flamboyant he, Cawthorn, or MTG are.
