There’s still a pretty stark difference here. These people cosplaying as the journalists covering the largest military force in the world are almost exclusively unabashed cheerleaders who have zero interest in anything resembling keeping the government accountable.

Fortunately physical access to the Pentagon is not essential to actually doing journalism regarding the actions of the military, so I still think this stupid ploy by the DoD ends up backfiring on them when normal people see Laura Loomer and these bozos relaying the government’s official messaging.

Yeah, kind of. An openly sycophantic press that treats their journalistic role as defending the government against any perceived attacks to its reputation and authority or uncritically serving as its mouthpiece is bad in a way that is more damaging than a press that is sensational or simply biased in my opinion. That the White House and Pentagon seek to elevate these people is not surprising, because these influencers are not just friendly, they actively see their roles as delivering the administration’s message.

There’s a reason I go after people like JoJo so harshly and why I wouldn’t want her running on the Pentagon/White House press circuit. This kind of “journalism” is extra pervasive and we should call it out even when we agree with their support.
