Announced today that he will be activated on Sept 25th (first day of the braves series) and will start Saturday the 29th (against the Marlins, 2nd to last game of the year). He will retire after the season.

Always hated facing him, but have to respect him. Injuries really derailed his career

Wright was a great Met and one that I always admired a lot. The end of his career was a real tragedy.

I wonder how the last two years of contract will be treated. It shouldn’t impact the Mets either way since his contract is insured, but that’s a lot of money to leave on the table.

Just looked up his career stats and the Braves were tied with the Phillies for the most HRs given up to Wright. .846 career OPS against the Braves. There was a stretch when he seemed to get big hit after big hit against us. Hard to believe he's still only 35 years old.

Calling gilesfan. I think you used to play against Wright in youth leagues, correct?

I remember McCann talking about what a great hitter Wright was...back when both were in their primes

Just heard on MLB radio that the Mets are working out a deal - or maybe have worked out- a deal with the insurance company covering Wright’s salary- and that he will get a big fat golden parachute to hang em up- the Mets still owe him for another two (I think they said two) years.. but David can’t play, knows it, and they worked out a steep discount gold watch deal. Essentially what they said.. my little one was blabbing about the hurricane the whole time...

That's terrific. Dude deserves it. He gave everything for that franchise.
