With Lake it's a money and time issue. Between her current case at SCOTUS and her Senate campaign it looks like she would have trouble paying the lawyers for this defamation suit. She's betting on it being cheaper to pay the defamation case than 6 months of lawyers. A risky proposition considering she did say things about Richer that she can't prove.

Its gonna cost her a pretty penny. I will guess 5 million. She seems to be smarter than Trump and Googliani and not doubling down on her defamatory statements so it probably wont be huge like Googliani's suit or Trump's second suit.
