TUESDAY MINORS FINAL 7/18 ... Four rainouts, one game

I think if Wisler passes tonight's test, then Coppi needs to be aggressive with trading I-Me... the piggies are a home run hitting team and that has been Wisler's Achilles heel. Wisler would have earned a spot in the MLB rotation if he fares well tonight... IMO

But Blair looks to be finding himself:

June 11: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K
June 17: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 8 K
June 23: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
June 28: 5.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER,. 3 BB, 4 K
July 3: 5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
July 8: 7 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
July 15: 5 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

Blair is 4-2 over his last 9 starts

I remember that final weekend game against the Tigers. Capable of being overpowering.

Aaron Blair had a FB that averaged 91.6 last year at the MLB level. He is still walking over 4 per 9 in AAA. His ERA, FIP and xFIP are all around 5 in AAA.

Aaron Blair is not a serious rotation option for a contending MLB team. It's time to move on.

Wisler with another solid performance so far thru 6. Hrs earning another shot after the deadline. Probably his final opportunity to impress.

I'm sorry that I don't have the time, information and inclination to detail transactions this well:

Cabrera has completely lost his mojo. Have doubts we'll ever see him in the majors again.

Minter gave up a bad defense double, then a line drive hit after K'ing the first guy. Then gets pulled. I wonder if they have a strict pitch count for him. My stupid tv feed went out, so just listening. But the let Fat Mo walk the bases loaded and then give up tieing run.. Minter was hitting 96.. so I know it is not injury.

Didn't everyone say the same thing about Newk? Yet here he is, walking just as many at the MLB level as he was in the minors.

Touki is young, but let's stay realisitic...he is wild because he is wild. He needs to improve, not the umps.

My thinking is that he supposedly has a 70 curve. I would think minor league umps don't see many 70 curves. If your best pitch gets called better as you move up and the umps get better in calling the pitch then I think it helps a pitcher. I think it is a harder case to make for a guy with a 70 fb because it's a straighter pitch and they see more of them. Of course, that's all supposition on my part.

Newk has a 60 curve. I'm going to guess all umps at AA/AAA have seen plenty of those.

Kimbrel's and M. Cabrera's control both got better when they got to the majors. Kimbrel's was really bad when he first came up before he settled in and was fine.

Cabrera and Kimbrel don't belong in the same sentence, ever.

Cabrera is a nobody

LOL, 2 bits of anecdotal evidence.

You've just successfully proven pitchers are likely to improve their command upon being called up. Well done!
