TV Thread

1 is better than 2, but I thought 2 went pretty well. Didn't really understand the amount of criticism it got. I will say the performances and directing are stronger than the writing, but it's an enjoyable show.

Don't know what to make of Danny. He's a low-life who gets all these chances and isn't grateful. I understand what happened with his dad and the whole "accident," but there is something else wrong with him. John tries to be the best brother he can be, but he's afraid of hurting people and his lies because he doesn't want to hurt people make things worse. Kevin is sort of a loose cannon and I don't really know what he actually does as far as work. His character seems relevant enough to the snow, but he just sort of takes up time. Meg is hot!

Stranger Things. Watched the whole season in two days. Highly recommend. Great show.

Really fun. They surely have set up a Season 2. They out-Kinged Stephen King with the season.

Bloodline is pretty good. Same guys who did Damages, so there's this cutting-and-splicing of the space/time continuum that disrupts linear storytelling that can get annoying, but the performances are good. Ben Mendelsohn never seems to get his proper due. He plays seedy better than anyone in the business.

Yea I really, really liked Stranger Things. Looking forward to where they take it from here, though I don't think it should be a long-running series.

Binged it and agree that I don't know where they would go next with it. Had the feel of a really great mini-series.

I've added the $5/month subscription to Acorn TV to my Amazon Prime. All the great British detective shows.

I really liked Penny Dreadful. Not a huge fan of the forced leftism, because my politics, but nonetheless it was a really good show. Also Black Sails is a show that doesn't get enough support. The first season was just solid, but the next two seasons were pretty awesome.

Just started Last Chance U on Netflix, and its pretty good for those that like a sports documentary (kinda like Hard Knocks).

Robert Downey Jr is heading to HBO with the writer behind True Blood. Word has it, RD Jr. will play Perry Mason in a miniseries.

Tattoo Fixers is in its third season. Just sayin'.

I don't know what that means but it seems indicative of something.

Halfway through Last Chance U. It is very well done. Catching up on The Americans. Also very good. Wife got ahead of me a little bit on Shameless, but it's quite funny. Anybody keeping up with Mr. Robot?

So many series I haven't even started/am behind on.

You're telling me. I still need to finish season three of Bojack Horseman and the first season of Maria Bamford's Netflix show; some of this other stuff is barely on my radar. I guess I'm actually pretty terrible at staying current with the teevees.

Have to throw out how much I'm liking "The Night Of" on HBO. About halfway done and I love the characters.... well acted.
