If your solution to making your beer more palatable is to lower the temperature, that means it isn't good. Now it's true that Lagers should be drank cold, as that's how they're handled, but they still should be servable above fridge temp. Pilsner Urquell for example recommends between 5-8 Celsius (or about 41-46 Fahrenheit) which isn't close to freezing like Bud, etc. recommend 37. Because at colder temperatures it hides the flavors as the aromas are lightened.
I routinely drink beers at room temperature when they're high gravity and the room temperature isn't hot. Nothing quite as nice as a 65 degree Russian imperial stout.
