Video Game Thread: Atari vs. Commodore Debate...

To answer part 1 yes. Part 2 yes. But I wouldn't buy a switch for Minecraft. Buy the switch for Mario, Zelda, etc.

I don't play console games unless it is retro arcade like galaga, galaga plus, miss pac man. If I want to play real games, I use my PC as the mouse is easier to control than one of those pads, like WOW, Battlefield, Quake, Unreal and Fortnite.

I also have Skyrim, Grim Dawn and Spellforce and others to play, but I bore easily of them.

I have a PC, XB1, and Switch. I use them for gaming in order probably, Switch, Xbox One, PC. Nothing against the PC. I love it and some games are only playable on PC (cannot play TBS on a console, it sucks. As do any games that use point and click movement, requires too much input)

For me I play mainly Overwatch on PC and XBox. Silly I know, but I love the game that much to be willing to try it on PC. I am much better with some characters on PC than console and vice versa. To me I think the movement system of dual analog to be better than mouse + Dpad so heavy movement characters with bigger spray damage, melee damage or locking damage (Moira, Roadhog, Brigitte, Reaper) I'm way better on Console with, but more aim sensitive characters who tend to stop more often and require headshots I'm better on PC with (McCree, Widowmaker, reworked Hanzo) And I did it just for fun. Where the switch reigns supreme though is portability. If we're watching something on TV that doesn't really require my attention, I can pick up my switch and play FIFA or Mario, or Zelda and just play it for a bit. When we take road trips to NJ, I will play my switch when it's my gf's turn to drive. Stuff like that makes the switch superior to all.

so you are saying the Switch is worth buying. THe only game I would buy woudl be minecraft for the kids when they come over so they can play against their neighbors and I don't have to buy a 5th pc. Having 4 right now is not fun, the rooms seems to get really warm when I have 4 kids playing Minecraft, Roblox or World of Warcraft.

I do admit when the play a RBG as a team in WOW they are lethal.

You'll want to buy Mario Kart and probably smash bros, and probably Mario Party.

I've had my 360 since 2008 and I'm thinking it's time for a jump up a generation. The new Spider-Man game has me intrigued, but it is only available on PS4. Is there much of a difference between Xbox 1 and PS4? Is the online play free on PS4?

Online play isn't free for any system. It's free for now for the switch but that's changing. IIRC the pricing on XBox Live and Playstation Online (whatever it's called) is negligible. As far as exclusives, the PS4 is far superior. The XBox One X is the most powerful console on the market and the XBox One S is one of the best values in media as it's a 4K Blu Ray player for 199.99.

That being said if I coudl go back in time, I'd buy a PS4 with Horipad FPS that makes the joystick layout of the controller similar to XBox and Nintendo's. I have no clue why Sony sticks to the ****ty layout of the Dualshock controllers.

I have to July 2nd, a 15% discount and 30 dollar voucher at Best Buy for my rewards. I am torn. I won't play it but I know my kids will but they would take my Sony TV and can't watch anything.

decisions, decisions, decisions.

so looking at 230 or so does not look bad.

I have a Sony 900EX and a 4k Sony DVD player, so I really don't need anything like that. I just want something my kids will have fun playing. They have 3 consoles at the house and really don't play them often.
They have their own pc's and I have 5 pc's at my place for them and their friends. It is fun watching and hearing them play a battleground in World of Warcraft, I don't think they ever lose and they are approaching their limit on levels. But they do switch to another character, which is cool. Makes me smile seeing how much fun they have.

Not a gamer but I’d stay away from the PlayStation due to Cross play. Sony doesn’t allow users to use the same account over different systems. If they have a Minecraft account on a PC or xbox they’d be screwed if they try to use that account on PlayStation

Kids overrode me, they want an XBOX and not another Nintendo product.

So is the XBOX backwards compatible because they have a TON of games that are like 10 or less in the stores?
