Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

No one who isn't a Braves fan thinks they would do that. The Rangers wouldn't even trade Profar straight up for Teheran as of like a week ago. I hate to keep saying the same thing, but the trades being talked about here and in Bill Shanks' moronic article today are the kind of talks that make people mad when actual trade returns don't meet expectations.

No one is saying that will happen... we're saying that's what he's worth... which he most certaintly is. Therefore, anything less and fans will be disappointed and rightfully so. Therefore if we can't get that, however small the chance is... we should just keep him. I'm pretty sure you'd have said the return we got for Miller would have been "moronic" before it ever happened but it still did.

See, that's fine. Then we don't do it. We could go for guys like Will Meyers then.

It's insane how simple this stuff is - it's all about supply and demand. That being said, I'd do A top pitching guy, Jenkins and Davison for Meyers.

Myers scares me with his injury history and what would be required to get him.

Wouldnt be against Myers but depends on the cost to get him as always.

Or could buy some bats in free agency like Neil Walker, Ramos, and/or Desmond/Cespedes.

Ramos is the guy I want the most. Add Ramos, Meyers and Moncada (if possible...)

Inciarte CF
Albies 2B
Freeman 1B
Meyers LF
Moncada 3B
Swanson SS
Ramos C
Pitcher
Smith RF

I'm not saying it happens, but that is a really potent lineup.

Anyone selling Myers would want you to pay his value in potential as he cant stay healthy. I wouldn't do that. He can't stay on the field (and at 1B)and it being wrist ...EH....

KLaw says he can't see Sox trading Moncada and Benintendi for Teheran and Viz.

Jason Stark also said that no one would meet what the Braves wanted for Shelby Miller, and 12 hours later, he was traded for Swanson, Blair, and Inciarte.

The Sox must be serious about trying to make a serious big time offer if they sent Wren in person to watch.... it may be one of those bargaining things that goes to the deadline, but they need help NOW. Also probably doesn't hurt that I think both guys were brought in under Wren's reign? Or am I wrong about that? (With Viz, I'm talking the original Yankees trade)

I saw we want a Ken Giles like return for Viz which is fair given hes under control for 3.5 years.

Which, we should get. Philly got Velasquez and Appel, along with Oberholzer, Eshelman, and another minor leaguer for Giles and another minor leaguer.

Man what an awful trade that's turned into for the Astros...I thought Giles was legit.

That's one reason it might be tough to pull that kind of return. Teams may see Giles and hesitate.

Yah but Viz has always had a high ceiling arm and was a highly ranked prospect nationally before PED/Injury problems. Giles was never even really considered a top prospect even for his organization. Viz has the pedigree

Viz was once the 40th ranked prospect nationally and #2 on the Braves... he was a big time prospect. Hard to believe he's only 25 for how long he's been around. Feels like he should be about 30

There used to be discussions about who was the better prospect, Julio Teheran, Arodys Vizcaino, or Randall Delgado. EDIT: In fact, Julio was #4 on BA's top 50 list in 2011. Arodys was #16, and Randall was #44.

I still think Delgado could have been a really nice pitcher if he was handled better.

If we could somehow end up with the pipe dream of Moncada and Benintendi/Devers (or both) I would literally ejaculate, I think.... Adding in the rumored international talent... possible best farm system of all time... pipe dream, though... while we're at it, let's go get Schwarber also

It's interesting. Something happened to player development after 2011. Teheran went off the rails in AAA in 2012. There was talk that Frank and Jeff Wren had him make some mechanical changes to see if they could get more swing and miss, and they almost screwed Teheran up big time. I know that Kurt Kemp stepped down in 2011, and he was one of the guys that did not see eye to eye with Frank on things.

Imagine prying Moncada with Teheran+, trading Jenkins, Sims (Maybe someone like Touki even), and someone like Davidson/Peterson to get Wil Myers and picking up Ramos in FA.

Inciarte CF
Wil Myers LF
Moncada 3B
Freeman 1B
Swanson SS
Ramos C
Benintendi RF
Pitcher
Albies 2B

I'm a fan of that lineup!
