Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

The Braves also do not have to trade Viz unless they get a good return for him. In fact, if they don't move him, they can elect to go ahead and buy out his remaining arbitration years and have another controllable young pitcher.

Definitely, but I think it's really likely we trade him.

I believe that you don't have to trade Julio. Keeping him is not a bad option at all, But i do think this is probably a time that you can get someone to overpay for him.

But we have to trade Viz.

He is a TJS, Steriod using, RP who is in the middle of a career year.

Sell high while you can.

I'd definitely prefer we deal him. Already had TJ and I think he could bring back something pretty useful for us long term.

It would take a Ken Giles type of deal to get him if it were up to me. He may be having a career year, but he was also the 14th highest rated prospect in baseball by BA back in 2011.

Gonna say no chance we get that. i'd settle for "just" a Velasquez type. That trade was highway robbery.

FWIW, he wasn't BA's 14th highest-rated prospect in 2011.

Arodys is a one-inning guy, and a high-risk one, to boot. Good as he is, I'll be disappointed if we don't sell high on him.

These sportswriters are hilarious. They want top dogs, but only want to offer you their lower level prospects. It's like a teenager playing fantasy baseball.

Sonny Gray and Julio Teheran are available as we speak. Best to strike while you have two teams to bargain with. Either of these men are worth the strongest arms the Los Angeles farm system has to offer, and almost any minor league position player as well (with Cody Bellinger and Alex Verdugo being the exceptions.)

Howard says that (in his opinion) the Dodgers should make any arm (Urias included) available and any hitter not named Bellinger or Verdugo available for either Julio or Gray.

Tweeted him back and told him I just didn't see a match - they have plenty of arms, sure, but not the types of bats we'd likely be looking for - Bellinger nor Verdugo look like fits to me.

Of course, I'd guess there's always the chance we MIGHT get a better bat for Urias than we might for Julio - but probably not til this winter. I guess if Coppy were feeling frisky, a deal of Julio for Urias, Austin Barnes, and Starling Heredia combined with a deal of Allard, Jenkins, and Davidson for Wil Myers could be pretty interesting.

Hey, wait a minute - I really like that idea.

RF- Inciarte, 2B- Swanson, 1B- Freeman, LF- Myers, C- Wieters or Ramos/Flowers, 3B- Garcia/Ruiz, 2B- Albies, SP, CF- Mallex

Urias, Folty, Newcomb, Wisler, Blair/Gant/Ellis

MIGHT not be half-bad!

wait, why are we trading an established pitcher for a pitching prospect and horrible catcher and a 17 kid?

There's no way he was including Urias, who is not currently in the minors.
