WEDNESDAY MINORS FINAL 6/19/19; Walkoff win in Danville opener!

Bryce Ball cannot be stopped. Now with a double. OPS over a million.

Good game for Willie Carter, too: he followed that double with a line-drive single that was hit too hard to score the runner.

A pretty fine start to the season for Danville, I'd say. They might not have a lot of pitching this season, but the offense looks promising—especially once Parker gets in the mix.

I thought the most exciting pick last year was Vodnik. Which is a sad commentary. This year we have a dozen Vodniks. A juco player like Milligan (age 20) has a certain amount of upside. Ball is also 20 and a bit young for his draft class.

The age thing is a clear shift on the college side. A lot of the later college picks tend to be young for their age, which these draft models always tend to favor.

Is Bryce Ball one of LaVar's?

Seriously, curious how Ball does. Another Midwestern high schooler who played JC ball in Iowa before heading south to Dallas Baptist. Braves went over slot to get him, so there's something they like. Of course, XSSS.
