WEDNESDAY MINORS FINAL 7/26 ... GCL Hitters on Rampage

It's just the facts man. He hasn't hit well at AAA. Why do we need him in Atlanta to start 2018 other than to fulfill the needs of some fans to see a shiny new toy play?

He is not Heyward and this is not 2010 when the Braves are expected to compete.

You are not taking into account that half of the year he was coming back from a fractured elbow. Really the same with DPete. On both fronts a more realistic picture of them, would be their stats after the All Star break. Why does everyone not take on account of the major injuries or the fact that Albies is so young.

The reason he is so young is why I don't want him in Atlanta to start 2018. I'm not saying Albies has struggled but I don't think he has had some godly performance where he has to be in Atlanta.

You posted his aggregate figures implying he hasn't been good this year.

You think his performance warrants a promotion?
Far be it for me to jump in but the early part of the year when Albies was recovering from a pretty bad injury, he wasn't setting the world on fire. But since his return he has been better than good. As a 20 y/o in AAA, he's fantastic. That being said I do believe he will be in Atlanta starting in 2018.

There is a line between "very good" which is your words and "hasn't been good" which you think I am implying. It doesn't have to be one or the other. The increased strikeouts and low walks are a concern to me. They should be a concern for most people that don't want to continuing to rush prospects before they are ready.

Just like with Swanson. What purpose does it serve to have him in Atlanta already? The Braves aren't primed to contend.

But those figures are swayed by a bad start to the year.

It's just misleading.

I know your stance is purely financial. Just say that at the start and don't hide those feeling using a bogus analysis.

So just to be clear your decision is strictly a financial one?

It's about keeping the teams window of contention open as long as possible and making sure Albies is ready to produce in Atlanta when he gets here. Is him starting the season in Atlanta 2018 more important to the future success of this team or guaranteeing his age 27 season will be in Atlanta?

Had you been a Nats fan I'm sure you would of wanted Harper to start 2012 with the big league club. Pretty sure fans of that team are now glad they didn't. Quit living in the now and try and see the big picture.

His B/KK numbers are still not great compared to what he's done in the past even in his good stretch. Once again you like to cherry pick the good and gloss over a players whole body of work.

So you believe his April numbers are relevant?

So you believe his April numbers are relevant?

Apparently you don't. His AAA numbers last year probably aren't either. Neither is him possibly being out of Atlanta before he even hits his prime. All for the sake of seeing your shiny new toy as soon as possible.

There's no harm in sending your top prospect up and down and when he is up he's benched? The front office is on a mission to get these kids here so they can show off the new park and compete before they are ready. Hopefully they don't repeat their mistake with Albies, Acuna, Soroka, and etc but I have a feeling they will.

No, there is no harm in it.

If he's so fragile he can't handle being benched and sent down for poor performance in his first full season in the majors then he's too fragile to ever amount to much.

You only think it is a big deal because you are hugely invested in dream of Swanson being the centerpiece of the franchise. If you weren't really buying that to begin with, it's generally not that big a deal to see someone who was struggling in AA struggle in the Majors.

It's too bad about the service time though. I'm pulling for him to spend the rest of the season in AAA.

Why should I put weight on his April numbers?

K rate:

April: 25%
Season: 20.4

Since:

May 15: 18.85
June 1: 18.59
June 15: 19.04
July 1: 20.4

He's definitely elevated over his career averages regardless of the time period, but April was an outlier.

I don't see a huge reason to promote him any time soon. Might as well maximize service time, but I think we all know he's likely starting the season in Atlanta next year.
