WEDNESDAY MINORS FINAL 7/26 ... GCL Hitters on Rampage

So make that your argument. The arguement that he doesn't deserve a promotion is just flat out wrong.

He deserves a promotion the same way that Swanson deserved one last year. And just like Swanson they are going to rush him for no reason in a non contending season.

No, there is no harm in it.

If he's so fragile he can't handle being benched and sent down for poor performance in his first full season in the majors then he's too fragile to ever amount to much.

You only think it is a big deal because you are hugely invested in dream of Swanson being the centerpiece of the franchise. If you weren't really buying that to begin with, it's generally not that big a deal to see someone who was struggling in AA struggle in the Majors.

It's too bad about the service time though. I'm pulling for him to spend the rest of the season in AAA.

There's a huge mental side to baseball. Showing confidence in your future SS is a big deal at such a young age, especially when you aren't playing for anything

The two situations from a performance perspective could not be more different.

Swanson had better numbers at AA when promoted than Albies does in AAA right now.

Again...the misleading albies 2017 analysis.

I know you are purposely doing that because you're way too smart not to consider obvious factors weighing down aggregate number. Not to mention age and level.

Albies hasn't hit well enough at AAA to warrant him starting 2018 in Atlanta. He just hasn't. Why do you want him to start the year in Atlanta so bad? Do you think the Braves are going to contend next year? Or do you just want to watch him play that badly you can't wait 10 days?

Didn't Swanson "only" bat .261/.342/.402 at AA? He was rushed. Truth is, Albies has outhit Swanson his entire minor league career. While he's adjusted to typically being the youngest player (Not named Acuna) in each league, he's been "very good. Are we arguing whether he should be the starting 2B in 2018 or whether we should promote him 2 weeks after the season begins?

The FO has made a lot of missteps and I'm sure they'll make more. I don't feel like Albies will be one of them. He's got a season and a half almost at AAA. (600AB's so far). He's far more ready IMHO than Swanson and when I saw a lot of the two play together, I still felt that Albies was the most ready.

Yeah, Swanson's numbers at AA weren't something I would suggest warranted being promoted either. I'm sure thethe wants Albies up right now. Anytime before two weeks into 2018 is a mistake for obvious reasons.

With who? Why is it a mistake? Other than Swanson what argument could be made that players are being rushed that have been detrimental to them or the organization?

Holy ****, pull your head out of the sand man...

You've crossed into the world of cult following if you can't clearly see Albies, Acuna and several pitchers will also be rushed to the MLB level...probably starting next season.

Seriously, enough with the constant FO brown nosing. It's pathetic.

I don't like it when a person is not rewarded for a job well done.

I don't buy into the amateur psychology and there are plenty of examples of young players being sent down and coming back better for it.

He's either going to succeed or he isn't. If he's weak minded it's not likely that staying up and flailing was going to do much for him either.

Sure he has. I don't want him to start the season in Atlanta next year because I want to get the extra year of control. But he has shown that he's ready for it.

Swanson had no real argument for deserving the promotion. He started in A ball and wasn't performing in AA. There was no reason at all to do with they did. It's the primary reason I hated the move in the first place. If he was killing it, well maybe, organizations can take different approaches to how they treat their players service time when they are deserving.

Doing it when he wasn't performing. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Albies does have an argument and he does have the at bats. I still wouldn't promote him now and I would play the service time game with him. Probably start Rodriguez at second and let Albies force my hand once the money piece resolved.

There is a clear difference between calling a guy up after 84 games in AA and giving players significant time in AAA, no matter how quickly they got to that level. I think Dansby was rushed, but I also think his struggles are being overblown. I don't think Albies has been rushed. Acuna has been moved aggressively, but he's responded. If he stays in AAA the rest of the year and performs well, I can't say he will be rushed if he's called up after that. I want Gohara to spend some time in AAA and be held back certainly to start next year, but if he pitches as well in AAA as he has everywhere else, how can you say he's rushed at that point?

He hasn't dominated to the point you can't keep him down like say Jason Heyward in 2009. If anybody has done that this year it's Acuna. But even then it's two different circumstances for where the team is at.

I didn't say he has. You said he hasn't played well enough in AAA to warrant starting in Atlanta next year, which just isn't true. He has definitely performed well enough to prove himself ready for that. Is he destroying the league to the extent you can't keep him down? No, and I didn't say he did...nobody else did, either.

Again, I don't want him up on Opening Day. But that has nothing to do with his play on the field or readiness. Those are both good to go.

Albies is going to be up even if he shouldn't be at the start and honestly unless there are extenuating circumstances it wouldn't shock me if Acuna was too and Markakis got traded.

I would like Albies to get the K rate back to previous levels at AAA before I promoted him.
