Wonder if Jesse Biddle will get the call to Gwinnett soon. He's 25 at Mississippi and putting up good numbers out of the bullpen - 49.2 IP, 48 H, 3 HR, 16 BB, 53 K.

Drew Waters is 2-2 with a pair of singles and two RBI. Up to .366 on the year in 12 games, and he has at least one hit in 10 of them.

I was looking at Biddle's stats the other day and his reverse splits are just nuts. He's a LHP, but LHH just feast on the guy. Curious to know what that is about. Agree that they should move him up to get an idea as to whether he should take a spot of the 40-man again this off-season.

I wonder if there will be a shuffle in a couple of weeks if Wilson hits well in Danville and moves up to Rome. My guess is Waters will see Danville at some point.

Freeman got 59 games in the GCL after being drafted in 2007, then went right to Rome in 2008.

Heyward spent a few games in the GCL and Danville in 2007, then also went right to Rome in 2008.

I don't think it matters much where Waters plays this year. He will likely end up in Rome next year anyways. Same with Maitan I imagine.

Maitan seeing his first struggles. He's 0-7 with 5 Ks and one walk in the last two games.

I agree. It just seems since Roy Clark and company returned, more guys are being pushed up mid-season.

Wonder if he's trying to throw his curve too hard when he sees those left-handed hitters. One scouting report I'd seen says he has a tendency to do that and cause it to flatten out a lot...

"Biddle's curveball can be his path to the majors, though he can sometimes lose feel for it. It's a slow breaking pitch that the hitter can give up on too soon. Biddle has to locate it or it will get beat up badly. When trying to throw with more velocity, the curve loses break and gets smacked. Hitters locate it well, but if Biddle is on, the curve will still create a good deal of pop-ups and whiffs."

Coppy said right after they signed Wright that the plan was for him to start in the GCL and end the year in Rome. Hopefully he gets going soon. Building up that innings count to 130 or so this year would speed up his time to the big leagues.

Does anyone have any kind of scouting report on Danville catcher Willie Contreras? Guy is off to a solid start and hit his second HR of the season tonight.
