WEDNESDAY MINORS THREAD 5/2/18: Gohara starts a.m. game for Gwinnett

What a bummer - Gohara looked like a potential stud.

Heres hoping its just a temporary blip.

He could totally come back and dominate his next start, or we could hear he’s back on the DL. I don’t think he’s thrown enough so far to have any shoulder issues seems like. It’s really strange.

Since our starters have been fine for the most part, I wouldn't be opposed to giving Gohara another month to try to get healthy and most importantly to try to get into better shape. I think he is the type of guy that you have to be very patient with in regards to his health.

I don't see any reason to promote anyone to the big club now unless they are performing or a big need has arisen on the roster.

Braves are set in the MLB rotation for the moment and Gohara isn't pitching well. Leave him down until he figures it out and get the extra year back in the process.

If a spot opens or somebody turns back into a pumpkin, he'll be better for the experience probably.

I think we're past the promoting guys just to see what they look like. This team is in contention and has a pretty decent MLB roster. Let it be performance based.

to clarify, we can get an extra year back for gohara even tho he made a handful of starts last year?

I'm not concerned yet. He's fat AF, so I can't imagine that's helping the process, but he's also young and has to get himself back to where he's comfortable.

Which is why I haven't gotten that excited about him yet. I know there have been rotund pitchers that have been successful, but I guess I am guilty of "fatism."

They activated him from DL and sent him down to AAA, so he's not accruing service time for the time being. If he stays down long enough, he could easily not have a year of service time after this season.

I think they should have gotten one back from Dansby last year when he was awful, but that's not how they saw it.

I am going to give Gohara a little bit of leeway, he had a very difficult off season. His Father dies and his mother got sick, add to that the injury when he came back, at his age it may just take some tome for him to get back on track. How would your have fared had our Dad dies when you were

Wilson

5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 SO

1 Earned Run in 25 IP so far in High A. It’s too easy for him. Top 50 prospect.

Pache just hit a triple too.
