Weigel Called Up, Parsons Recalled

Wright and Touki shuttled back to Gwinnett following last night's embarrassment.

Honestly believe Weigel will surprise folks. He's been held to strict pitch counts since coming back from his 2016 TJ surgery, but he was on a fast track when he went down. Career minor league numbers: 20-13, 3.20,

Parsons was an undrafted free agent, and has had to battle for everything he's achieved. He's got to know this is his last chance

The AAA shuttle trip was happening regardless of last night's results.

Holy hell the overreactions of this board are comical lol.

AA is desperate to find a reliable starter from one of our many minor league pitchers. It's all an attempt to try and find an excuse to not trade for one. As we can see, it has blown up in his face horribly.

Well, yeah, trying to fill a hole in-house is generally a better idea than spending assets on one.

But I think this is more about Fried being hurt and resting pitchers than trying to fill out a permanent rotation spot. Pretty sure Weigel is going to be pitching out of the bullpen.

Yeah Weigel is up purely to be a long man and will probably be down in a couple games. Last night's uhhhh, extended batting practice by the Nats, that was enabled because Fried went on the IL, and Allard was likely questionable to be able to go Saturday in his place because of a rolled ankle in his last start, with it being very possible that his going would've likely not been great either in the first place. We managed/unfortunate injury'd ourselves into either Wright or a bullpen game, and Snitker doesn't like bullpen games so it was likely just one option.

The Braves are 58-40. Nobody has made a trade for an impact SP yet. There must be a dozen GMs with blown up faces...

In the eyes of a rational human being, what an irrational fan calls a horrible blow up is actually due diligence and searching for value, all the while getting excellent results.

Wright was certainly going down regardless, but I think touki is going down based on performance. Touki's era and BB9 are currently 5.62

I could buy this, but I think it's more the fact he threw 54 pitches last night and can't be used for 3-4 days anyways.

Which wouldn't have happened had Wright not imploded...so yeah...Touki's demotion was likely causal.

Woulf love to see weigel in multiple inning atints personally. Want to see how he can incorporaye all his pitches to gauge if starting is an option down the road.

Since it's probably true that Allard would have gotten the callup if he hadn't tweaked his ankle, this may be one of the great fated moments that happens in baseball where Weigel never sees Gwinnett again except to pick up his laundry. He has always been regarded as having the stuff. We'll see soon enough if he has the makeup.
