It’s not showing for some reason, but Lopez is having arthroscopic surgery to see if he has any damage in his shoulder.

Another bizarre aspect of the offseason that doesn’t come up much: restructuring Lopez’s contract, which guaranteed him more total money in exchange for a lower 2025 salary. This had no effect on the luxury tax figure and at the time was assumed to free up more money to spend in the offseason (it didn’t).

In essence, they locked in future commitments to a pitcher with a cooked shoulder in exchange for short-term cost savings that they didn’t use for anything else.

He no doubt has the talent to be a SP but his arm just won't hold up to it. He can be a really high leverage BP arm and going forward he probably needs to be.

I don't know what teams will be out of it at the deadline but the Braves will no doubt turn it around and be right there in it so AA is gonna have to get another SP.

Shoulder issues can take years to heal. This might have been the last we have seen of effective Lopez.

There were several of us screaming in the offseason for another good SP bc we had to many IFS in it with Sale, Strider, and Lopez. You may be right that he won't ever be the same again but if he does he needs to be in the BP.

I agree the starting experiment should be over.

As soon as Lopez said that he wanted to pitch 200 innings this season, I knew he was cooked. But I thought he'd at least get to 100 innings!

Any of you MRI experts? Does inflammation always hide damage? Is inflammation a sign of damage?

I'm not an MRI expert but I am a lifelong Braves fan. Whatever the worst possible outcome is, that will be it. I expect they'll amputate both his arms.

Drake Baldwin had 4 PAs. He walked once and had EVs of 98.7, 100.4, and 102.1. He went 0-3.

The Braves had 9 of the 12 hardest hit balls in that game and were out hit 5-3.

Snakebit.

I know AA couldn't foresee a lot of these issues popping up like Profar but man it makes his offseason look even worse.

It is becoming more obvious that AA did not have much flexibility to do anything. Which is why people should not go support this team right now.

When AA signed him wasn't he supposed to be used as a hybrid starter reliever. Then Snit used him exclusively as a starter.
